Question for those using Oxy 10...
I used the Oxy 10 for the first time on Sat. night, after using the 3%S.A./Sulfur Soap. When I got out of the shower, my dots were bright red, and kindof stinging. I went ahead and put on the Carmol 20 & Jergan's Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Lotion. For a while my skin was "hot" feeling, and had the bright red dots. I was just wondering if anyone else felt the "power" of the Oxy 10, or do you think it's too harsh for my skin. I didn't use it yesterday, and as for today, I'll probably wait till tonight to use it again (getting ready to go to work, and don't want to be bright red), but not sure if I should use it again. What are your thoughts?...(just a little worried that it's too harsh). Thanks! KS-with-KP |

While showering w/ Sulfur Soap I scrub my legs w/ a stiff brush. When I get out I put Lubriderm on(I take my showers at night)then before I get into bed I put on the Oxy followed w/ more Lubriderm. When I wake I put on more Lubriderm. Hope this helps and yes after I put on the Oxy I get a stinging sensation for a minute or so. |

Hey Kim, thanks for your response to my question. Maybe I got the wrong Oxy 10(?). Mine says Oxy 10 Balance, oil free Maximum Strength Acne Wash, (deep cleans to eliminate acne-causing bacteria). It says to shake well, wet face, add water and work into a lather. Massange in, and rinse thoroughly then pat dry. What does yours say? (The same thing or something different?) When I went to the store, it was the only Oxy 10 that me and my boyfriend saw. Thanks again. KS-with-KP |

Yeah, this Oxy 10 Vanishing Cream w/ 10% ben. Peroxcide. You have to be careful because it will bleach clothes and sheets. It's not a wash, it's a cream you put on pimples. Try it, it has lightened mine alot. I will continue it a little while longer. |

Hey KS, I know you posted for Kim, but I think the Oxy she and others are using is the cream that comes in a tube not the wash. The active ingredient is 10% benzoyl peroxide. This same ingredient can be found in several brands - some posting are using the clearasil brand. I suggest you go to the largest chain drugstore near you and check out the aisle with acne meds. There should be at least 3 or more brands that have the peroxide. They are usually sold in a tube. Hope this helps. |

Do you put yours all over, for the red dots to fade them, because I have the red dots everywhere. Legs, torso, arms, etc... Just curious. Thanks again for your help. I'll try to get the right Oxy 10 cream w/ the 10% ben. per. later. So far the S.A./Sulfur soap seems to be helping, I still have some bumps, but it's only been 1 week today since my 1st use w/ it. They are definately smoothing out though and I'm starting to get softer skin. My torso is still the worst, but kindof getting softer too. Thanks again! KS-with-KP |

Hi! I apply it(Oxy)on my legs. I do have KP on the backs of my arms but I only do the Sulfer Soap on them, It's not bad on my arms. You know on different places on your body you can have different types of KP. On the backs of my arms it is very rough and corse. On my legs the KP is not corse at all. So I think that is why I had such good results w/ the s. soap etc. If I were you I would work on areas that you want to show in the summer, legs or arms. Focus on those areas first so you can wear shorts. See what works best for you. If you are using a stiff brush like I do you may notice some of the papules on your body may break open and may bleed a bit but w/ time this goes away along w/ the bumps. I saw great results in under 2 weeks. Hope you have good results too! Just keep it up. See ya, Kim |

You mentioned your Daughter, I have no idea when you had her but did all of this KP get really bad after you had her? Just asking because I always had a little bit on the backs of my arms and a little tiny bit above my knees, it was really no big deal at all. Then before I became pregnant I went to the Derm because of some minor facial acne and just decided to ask her about those very few little bumps above my knees and she asked about the backs of my arms and then I found out what I had and that they were the same thing only on my arms it was more corse then the couple of bumps above the knees. OK, so after I had my Daughter(about 6 mos.) my legs got really, really bad. Sorry this is so long but it just seems that many women have had this problem I guess due to hormones. Thanks Kim |

Hey Kim, as far as I can remember it did get worse during & after my pregnancy w/ my daughter. She is now 13. I took a look at my "horrible" preg. pictures (I had some toxemia w/ her and looked terrible pregnant!), and in all of them my face was "flushed", and you can see my KP on my arms (somewhat). I remember going to the derm. when she was about a yr. old, and finding out then for the 1st time that I had KP. I'd NEVER heard of it before, the Derm. told me that it was a very common skin disorder & that I'd eventually outgrow it, but that I had the WORST case she'd ever seen. The reason I went to her was because I'd been to the tanning bed about 3x in about a week & a 1/2, and my skin was very irritated, and "itchy", from the tanning bed (I'd never been in one before then). The Derm. told me that I shouldn't lay in them again. It's strange, because when I lay out in the sun, my skin always looks better and never gets irritated. When I get tan, my KP seems to fade. Only problem is that I haven't had time to lay out in the sun in years (except once in a while) and of course it's not good for you to lay out in the sun (but IF I do have time, I do it anyway). I remember the 1st thing my Derm. prescribed was Retin-A, and it really stung/burned my skin & made it look more red. Then she prescribed Lac-Hydrin, etc... all the same things we've all gone through. Anyways, I do agree that pregnancy has to effect KP. Sorry my response is sooo long, just so much to say, ya know. (Oh, also, I wanted to mention that the Oxy 10 that I bought does have the 10% benzoil peroxide in it too, so do you think I should go ahead & keep using it, or switch to the kind you're using? I haven't tried to use it but that one time, and might try it again in a little while to see what happens.) Thanks a bunch! KS-with-KP :-) |

Well, no harm in using it unless it really bothers your skin. I like the cream because it stays on all night or until you take your next shower. It has lightened and cleared my skin alot and I will keep it up a little longer(using since 9-20-02). So I want to give it a month at least, then I will try Mederma. Men have it a little easier. Talk to you later, Kim |

My daughter was my firt(now 20 months)and I want to have 2 more children. This really sucks for us. 5 to 6 mos. after having her it spread all over my legs really bad. Now i'm getting rid of the KP and I know this is going to be an up-hill battle for the rest of my life but it's the knowing that the KP is most likly going to get bad again after or maybe during pregnancy. |
