Sugar scrub/E lotion and Retin A.

Wesley and I both have the KP. Last week I was in Bath and Body Works. I love the aromatherapy line in the Lavender Vanilla. They have a new stuff called tranquil sugar scrub. Wes and I have both used this and love it. I dont have the KP on my face but I tried it on my face before I allowed Wes to and it is awesome. It made our skin so soft. Neither Wes or I have ever had these results. Now it hasnt done a thing for his redness or the the red bumps in appearance but I have never felt his face or our skin so soft in my life. The dryness will get much worse now with winter time. I highly recommend it for the smoothness. Now my skin stayed soft and hydrated for at least 24 hours without lotion. Wes needed to apply lotion the next morning but the skin was still real soft. I also bought a cheap lotion at Sams CLub last week called Genes. It is a swiss collagen with 100,000 units of vitamin E. That seems to be hydrating pretty well on his face and arms. THe sugar scrub is $20 and the lotion was $5. If we can just get the hydration going with him, that helps a lot. I wish that it did somethign for the redness but hopefully that will come too with something else. The doc is not recommending Retin A for the face becasue of side effects. Has anyone had an experience with this? Hugs Donna |

My daughter's dermatologist recommended using the Retina a on her face. She had us mix it with cetaphil. The amount was one part Retina a to 10 parts Cetaphil about once a week and gradually increase to 2-3x a week. My daughter does not have the redness just some bumps but this made her skin worse. Some of the bumps developed pus and her face became redder along with broken blood vessels. We no longer use the Retina A. Instead we use the ponds cream as recommended previously and her skin has improved a great deal(I should knock on wood because I don't want to jinx it). We also had to have the broken blood vessels removed. It was not a good experience. I'm glad the other products are working for you. The Retina A may work for some but it didn't for us. |
