found another otc product with 3% salicylic acid

Hi all...I had a few extra minutes waiting for an rx, and decided to scan the soap/moisturizer aisle. I came across a product from dermarest. It is part of their series for psoriasis. This particular product is the medicated skin treatment. It is a gel. Says that it stops itching. Can be used up to 4 times a day. Has extra moisturizing element. And as I said in the title, it has 3% salicyclic acid. I don't know how good it work, but it's another option to trying to mix powder with the carmol. I would think with this product, you could put it straight on, exfoliate and then add the carmol 20. I looked all around for the keralyt. No store around here sells it. Special order only, or internet sale. So here's an alternative... BTW, I saw it at CVS. (northeast). I didn't buy it...still considering it. I have a 22mth old son and I'm not too sure about using something so strong routinely on his sensitive skin. If I decide to try it, I'll let you know how it works... alison |

I have been using this Dermarest along with sulfur soap and carmol 20 - I believe it was Emily who first suggested it in a post. I am having some success, my skin is smooth but the redness has not gone away. It is easier and cheaper than the SA powder/carmol mess. |

Maybe you could try using hydrocortisone cream every couple of days (like, let’s say on Mondays, Wednesday s, and Fridays…) Sometimes, this can help clear up the remaining redness. Of course, after a few weeks you need to discontinue use or taper off… steroid creams can cause side effects with prolonged usage. I’m glad to hear that you are doing so well! Mel |
