Swimming and KP

Any of you notice that swimming in chlorinated pool water makes KP worse? I own a swimming pool, and though I keep my pool water levels very balanced, I do notice that my KP acts up much more after swimming (and the days following). It might just be due to the amount of time I am spending in the water that is making it more pronounced, however my KP acts up more during the summer months verses winter months, so there might be a correlation (being I don’t usually swim during the winter months). I wonder though if chlorine might be an irritant to KP. If so I might switch to a saline sanitized pool. |

That is a great point. Chlorine is a mayor irritant and can definitely aggravate dry skin disorders (like kp). One woman wrote me once that her daughter’s kp took a decisive turn for the worse when she started swimming in a pool. I’ve never though about switching to a saline sanitized pool… if you go through with the switch, please let us know! Lots of Love, Mel. |

I have always found that swimming in a pool makes my skin clear up for a couple days. |
