KINETIN

I have the worst case of KP my Dermatologist has ever seen. She said that KP is VERY common, about 40 to 45% of the population has it. Some worse than others. But unfortionately mine is the worst ever!! :-( I have the worst complex imaginable (meaning self esteem) I'm not ugly, have been told I'm quite attractive, but I still have major insecurities! I know you're probably thinking "how" can she be attractive if she has the worst case". I feel the same way. But honestly, even though it is on my arms, my legs, my back, and my torso have so much KP, my friends and coworkers say it is not as noticable as I think. Still, I hate it sooo much! I have tried everything, and AHA's burn my skin. I am at a loss! I wan't to try the Carmol 20/SA recipe soon, but I was wondering about something I read regarding help for skin. It is called N6-Furfuryladenine, A.K.A. Kinetin. Has anyone ever tried this??? The article said that when put on a leaf that would normally turn brown, it keeps it green. It stated that the most efficient version is around $90.00 w/ quicker results, but can also get results w/ cheaper versions such as Almay or Body Shop's-Skin Relief (taking several weeks to do the job). Please respond if anyone has heard of this! Thanks, KS-with-KP

Sorry I never tried it. Do you need a prescription for it? Funny; I always thought I had the worst KP around. None of us should have have this annoying condition. I think sometimes we magnify our condition so much that if starts to affect every aspect of our lives. Do you get it on your forearms too? I have very Hairy forearms and it seems my KP traveled down there from my upper arm.
It is really bad. It's my worst area and hard to hide in warm weather. I always used tell people its a rash or allergic reaction. Now I just say its KP. No one every seems to know what KP is though. I hope you try the carmol/sa formula it starting to work now. good Luck

In regards to your questions, "Luvfolkart" Yes & No about having to have a prescription. You can get a prescription from your Doctor or from your Dermatologist for the stronger products, OR you can buy it in an over-the-counter form in different products (from what I've learned since adding this subject yesterday). I have no idea if it can really help KP or not, but it claims to help with rough skin, etc... I found that KINETIN is a product used to "SMOOTH & SOFTEN" the skin and to reduce small wrinkles and brown spots (Anti-aging effect). It is seen in several over-the-counter lotions and creams (so I read) and "MAKES THE SKIN FEEL SMOOTHER". It is purported ("implied&quot to have similar effects to other ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS as well as Retin-A, without nearly the irritation of most AHA's. One product (over-the-counter) I read about was ALMAY'S-Kinetin Daily Moisture Lotion, which claims "Intensive formula seals moisture into the skin, and is clinically proven to improve skin's TEXTURE by and clarity by 58% in 8 weeks. Reduces the signs of lines and wrinkles in just 4 weeks". Smooth skin...sounds like a plan to me. "Luvfolkart", you also asked about my forearms, do I have KP there as well (?), Oh yeah, but it is not as noticable as other places. (The hair on my forearms is very light, almost blonde, but I guess you could say pretty hairy. Just not so noticable). As I said yesterday, I was told by my Dermatologist that I have the worst KP she'd ever seen (and she'd been in Dermatology for at least 20 (or so) years at the time of diagnosis-1990). She's prescribed all kinds of AHA'S for me, and they ALL burn my skin, or at least STING! I haven't been to her in a while, too much money, and basically I was told "no hope" for my skin. Her words were "it goes away with age", well it's been 12 yrs. since my diagnosis, (but I was at least 8-10 when I was 1st aware my skin "sucked" (I'm 31 now)), and I have to tell you, it is no better with age. I have it all over my body! Arms, Back, Torso, Legs, and my Face. Anywhere there aren't any "bumps", I have pink to red dots. EVERY HAIR FOLLICLE is affected one way or the other! I ALWAYS hear "Are you cold, you have Goose-Bumps all over", and most of the time I don't even bother to respond. I would say that the worst is my Torso and Back as far as the "bumps" go, then my Upper Arms, and Thighs. My Forearms and Lower Legs are for the most part dots (some "bumps" on the Forearms, especially around the Elbows). My face is mostly the "flustered" look, with a slight "roughness" to it, a few "bumps" on the neck, ETC... I feel like I have NO MOISTURE at all. I have ALWAYS been very self conscious about my looks, MOSTLY due to the KP, not my actual looks, although once you're self conscious about the way you look, you always feel like an "ugly duckling". I have 3 sisters, and they all have KP, but very mild compared to mine. My brother doesn't really have KP. My 13yr. old daughter has it on her Upper Arms not real bad though (thank god) although she does have acne somewhat. I have ALWAYS wanted "baby soft" skin like some of my friends have, but I feel it's HOPELESS! I just don't unerstand "why me". I know I should be grateful for everything else, but it sure would be nice to not be ashamed of my body (skin)! Well, enough said for now.
I would like to post a web-site I found regarding KINETIN. It is: http://www.lef.org/newsarchive/aging/2001/11/08/eng-newsrx/eng-newsrx_130226_65_4845813917927.html I hope that helps. I still want to try the Carmol/SA recipe, sounds to be the 1st sign of real hope.
