Okay- ever since I can remember I have had small bumps on my knees and thighs.. Well thats where it has been the worst. I picked at the sides of my thighs for YEARS, and would have awful cuts, even at a young age. I also had them on my elbows, and sometimes on the backs of my arms.. but not as bad as I've seen on many poeple. Oh yes!! I cant forget the sides of my waist and my buttocks!! They are just all over!
I was so embarassed by it for YEARS, and I still am.. They are so obvious in the sunlight.. and forget wearing shorts or short skirts! I hated anyone to see my legs, because I didnt want them to think I had pimples all over my body.
Up until the age of, I'd day 15 or so, I thought it was just me. But then my older sister asked me if I had anything like she had on her legs, and I was like OH my gosh!! I have it too! So we went to my dad, and he also had it, saying it was just a vitamin deficiency.
I remember getting the internet, an asking all sorts of doctors online what it was, and I never got a reply.. I rememebr thinking "No man will want to marry me, let alone date me.. I don't feel smooth like all the other girls I see.."
Well, my boyfriend never really noticed.. but it finally just got to the point where i decided- Heck- I am going to the dermotologist!! A room mate of mine at college said she used to have whatever these bumps were, but her Dermo. gave her a lotion that irritated her at first, but eventually got rid of them. So I went. He gave me a prescription for a cream that ppl with Psoriasis use.. SMALL bottle for, get this... $90!!! Well, I refuse to buy it a third time, but I think it kinda helped.. My skin feels SO much smoother, and I believe there are less bumps. Especially on my thighs and butt! Thank GOD!
I just want to say how thankful I am for this website!! I have looked for info on my problem for YEARS!!
The dermo. did tell me that sometimes he has to give ppl up to 8 different prescriptions until they find one that works, but he did NOT tell me the bumps were not curable.
What is something, besides exfoliating, that I can use that will REALLY get rid of these bumps? I'm tired of spending $90 every three weeks, adn I'm tired of being ashamed of my skin.. (
