The doctor says it's "folliculitis", but he doesn't seem to sure and hasn't suggested
any course of action. I already scrub like crazy,
without much improvement. I've tried wart remover on it and a crust formed, so I stopped using it.
When the crust peeled off, the lesion was intact underneath! HELP!

Denise, is your lesion more like a wart or a blister? I, too, have experienced what sounds like the same thing which the dr called folliculitis. And, while it may be that, it does not heal in the same manner because of the KP. I have found that if I can see the hair in the follicle it has a KP waxy plug around it at the root which will not allow the lesion to heal.

What can you do? I use Oxy10 (benozyl proxide acne med) directly on the lesion for a few days to dry it up. As it dries the hair usually comes to the surface. I try to pluck the hair out at the root (which usually takes the infected KP plug out as well)since the lesion won't heal with it in there. Then continue with the Oxy until the lesion heals. Then I hit the spot with an AHA lotion.

Unfortunately, it takes a while for these lesions to heal But this method helps more than anything else I have tried. Using OxyBalance wash in the shower and AHA every other night has helped reduce the over all problem. HTH!

I'm not sure it's the same thing as you. Mine looks flattened
and pasted on the skin, with the surface red and sometimes itchy.
There aren't any hairs coming out of that spot, contrary to the kp, where
hair sticks out of each bump. I saw yet another doctor today and showed it to him and he looked somewhat disgusted, which
made me feel even worse. He said something about the weather and about minding my personal hygiene; nobody spends more time
in the shower scrubbing than me!

I've also had the blisters for the first time this summer on my fingers and foot (apparently triggered
by exceptionnally hot and humid temperature. It took a month for the skin to peel off and for the blisters to disappear,
but they did disappear on their own. My mother says she experiences the same thing every summer. This disease is really
getting me down. I feel like it's the end of the road and there is nothing to be done and yet, I cannot accept it. It's like
being stripped of your femininity...

Hmm, it does sound different from mine. However- your doctor sure needs to take Bedside Manner 101 over again! Like many doctors I have encountered, he problem doesn't have a clue what you should do and doesn't want to admit it.

You might try the Oxy10 and AHA lotion and see if it helps. Since it sounds irritated...I wouldn't scrub it though.

Denise - The scrubbing may be irritating the blisters further. If it is folliculitis, I think that is more of a bacterial infection than a KP plugged up pore. I think you should consider going to another dermatologist for a second opinion and see if it is folliculitis. I believe folliculitis is usually treated with a topical or oral antibiotic dosage.

No. They've been there for a long time. They don't go away. But they become very itchy from time to time

They're not exactly in clusters. I only have three of them on my stomach, in close proximity. They have been there for a couple of years, actually. They're the size of pimples but flattened and every now and then, they become red and very itchy. They don't look at all like the kp bumps that blanket the skin. They look like warts and I find them more unsightly. Incidentally, my kp seems to act up more in hot and humid weather than during the winter, which doesn't seem to fit the usual description...
