Retin A made my KP irritated and more inflammed!!

I have been using Tretinoin (Retin A) on one arm and Benzoyl Peroxide on the other (as recommended by my Derm) for almost 2 weeks now. The KP on my arm where I apply Retin A has been inflammed, dry and irritated for the last 2 days. Is this supposed to happen? For those of you who have used Retin A, did you experience the same discomfort? I live in Australia, and summer is only 3 months away and I heard that Retin A takes a few months to take effect.

Also, my other arm (where I use benzoyl peroxide) has marginally improved, its a little smoother and the inflammation has gone down a little. I also use AHA lotion on this arm after I shower. I have ordered the Sulfur/Salicylic acid as suggested by Kim and should get it in a few days.

If you take a look at other retin a posts, it looks like it is very common for your skin to look worse before it is better. I personally have never tried it.
