I had the cream mixed by my pharmicist too, but the consistency is very smooth, and it feels very soft when i put on my skin, it doesn't feel waxy at all.Not sure why yours feels the way it does.
I always use a loofah after i put the cream on when i get out of the shower, as do other people on here, so I don't see why you shouldn't. Just don't make the same mistake I did and use the same loofah you just used in the shower!
