Laser hair removal

Has anyone tried laser hair removal on their legs to see if it gets rid of kp? I asked my dermatologist if he thought getting rid of the hair would eliminate the problem and he said it would. (I should add he has nothing to gain financially by giving this advice since he does not do laser hair removal.) It seems like a good idea....but I hesitate. This is an extremely expensive route to go and there's no guarantee that it it truly permanent. The doctor I did consult for laser hair removal said this would help the kp. Microdermabrasion sounds good (also expensive but not nearly as expensive as the hair removal) but how often do you need to do this? These seem like viable options and the need to repeat them wouldn't be so bad except the cost is incredibly high. Just wondering if anyone has personal experience with this approach? Thanks!

I did try the Microdermabrasion and it did not work for me. As for the hair removal I can't help there. You can always get a 2nd and 3rd opinion if you are not sure. Good luck w/ it and keep us posted on what you decide!

I have just finished a months worth (4 treatments) of 2 sono-peels and 2 microdermabrasion peels. I have noticed a great improvement in my skin from when I started, but not to the point where I want it to be. I think with more treatments it can only get better, but you have to decide if you want to invest the money into it. I decided to do it because I was fed up with using all the creams and stuff that just didn't work and I didn't want to waste any more time suffering from feelings of self-consciousness. I am also trying another treatment called Photo-facial, which I start on Thursday. Apparently I am supposed to notice a dramatic improvement after the first treatment. I will let everyone know how that goes. Good luck with whatever you decide to try. And personally, I don't think that I would go with the Laser Hair removal.

Thanks to all who replied. I'm thinking of trying sugaring on my legs since I've heard that this is a gentle but effective way to remove hair. Theoretically, you're supposed to need fewer treatments if you do it on a regular basis at first. The laser hair removal is just so expensive. If I understood the doctor, the advantage that laser hair removal has over microdermabrasion is that (in addition to removing the hair) it may make the appearance of the skin even better if the pigment color is uneven. I guess I hope the price will come down on some of these latest cosmetic approaches.
