Tretinoin and Benzoyl Peroxide

I went to the dermatologist this afternoon and I must say, I was pretty dissapointed with the his attitude towards my skin condition. Instead of providing encouragement, he was very pessimistic about the whole thing. I've had the condition for about 3 years now, but it has gotten worse ever since I started using Roaccutane. Nevertheless, the dermatologist prescribed Benxoyl Peroxide 4% and Tretinoin 0.05% to me. Just wanted to know whether anyone has use these 2 before, and if so how effective was it and how long it took to see the results. He told me to use Benzoyl Peroxide on one arm and the tretinoin on the other to see which one would be more effective on me. For those who have use either of these, did you do any extra exfoliation? I use Neutrogena Body Clear and used to use an AHA lotion after I shower before the above prescriptions were given to me. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |

Try some Sulfer Soap, it really made my legs smooth. I used to use the Neutrogena before I started the Sulfer Soap and I will never go back. |

Trentinoin is Retin A and several people on this board have claimed good results with it. Trentinoin is an exfoliator so you probably don't need anything extra. I tried the Benzoyl Peroxide washes on my KP and it was ineffective. I've never tried retin-a on my kp but I've used it on my face with good results. It's just very expensive to use on large areas of skin. |
