Prescription for Retin-A if you are over age 25

For those of you who want to use this, but have been denied coverage by your insurance co., I have the same difficulty. My doctor has to contact the insurer to verify my condition; then the prescription is covered. My insurer provides an '800' number for this, but a letter of "medical necessity" would work, too. I have found Retin-A micro to be moderately helpful with my KP (on my stomach, forearms, upper arms and buttocks). I can only use it every other day, or it causes its own rash. It took two full months for me to begin to see results. Just yesterday I discovered a cortisone GEL, and have started using it along with the Retin-A micro. Anything with petroleum or petroleum byproducts makes my KP worse, so I am hoping the gel will help with the redness without adding to the breakouts. Terri |
