lactic acid vs. glycolic acid vs. alpha hydroxy acid

I've had a worsening case of kp all my life, it started on the backs of my arms and now affects the majority of my arms and thighs. Before i had simply accepted them, but because of the vanity/ insecurity issues that come with being a teenager, i have been attempting some sort of treatment for over a year. Afer what seems to be failed attempts with alpha hydroxy and glycolic and lactic (5%) lotions, my doctor prescribed a lactic 12% lotion. This is my first visit to this site and i'm just beginning to realize how wide spread this disease is and that alot of the treatment is trial and error for each individual. I was wondering what other people have experienced using these different forms of treatments. And if anyone has had visible improvements with the Lactic Acid 12% lotion. |

I have not had very good luck with Lac-Hydrin 12%. I was prescribed the cream which is very thick and incredibly sticky. It makes my clothes stick to my arms and thighs, and it has a funny odor. As a result of this discomfort I have not been using it twice a day as suggested, but it seems to be making it worse, and I really don't like it. |

i posted this article about a week ago and have seen a little progress so far. my bumps are less red and don't seem to be spreading. but the lotion is really thick and sticky which makes it hard to apply it 2 times a day religiously. But last night i noticed what resembled kp bumps on the inside of my elbows. i've never had kp there before and am a little concerned. the bumps are closer together, smaller and itchy. i thought maybe it could be a heat rash. has any1 had kp like this before? thanx! |
