TriCerum: "New Hope for Problem Skin"-Marie Claire mag

I found this little blurb in the most recent issue of Marie Claire mag.

"Dermatologists estimate that 70% of of skin problems, including eczema, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis, are due to imbalances in the cermamide, cholesterol, and free-fatty-acid levels in the skin. Based on this knowledge, Osmotics has developed TriCerum, an over the counter salve, that, in clinical trials, dramatically improved the skin of 19 of 21 eczema patients who hadn't responded to steroid cream (the standard treatment). We've found that it beats back of the arm bumps, too."

My take on this:
I found this interesting because this is the first suggestion I've heard that KP and related skin problems may be caused by imbalances in the skin (then again, maybe I don't read much).

I'm curious to find out if anyone has tried this.
I'm not sure if it's out yet, but it is an OTC med.

I also saw this in Marie-Claire, and posted on this board a while back about it, but didn't get any replies.

I have KP on the forehead, but I also have signs of dermatitis (mild) and a lot of severe eczema in the family. Dermadoctor recommends it for eczema, so I did actually order it. It could just have been me (because I've seen good reviews of it for eczema patients), but my skin was terrible after using it a few times. The first time I used it, my skin appeared very smooth, but after that it became incredibly red and irritated.

I'm not sure what advice to give you really. It may be a lot better on the body - it's very moisturising. Although KP is a 'dry skin' disease, I personally find that it's better when I use a very light moisturiser.

Tessa, thanks for replying.
The TriCerum web site touts the cream as "lightweight", but that is also what the makers of UltraMide say about that product, and I found it very clogging.

Doesn't sound like this is right for me. You just saved me thirty bucks!
