I've read that peeling and scrubbing might help some, but I think it really HURTS when the skin is so bumpy. And it doesn't really help either, only the very dry bumps get smoother, the other ones just become red and ugly.

I've also tried Aloe Vera and it makes the skin smoother, but it doesn't really help either. For me, sun and bathing in salty water have been the best solutions so far.

I have been sufferer for about 13 years, mostly over my arms. I still scrub away in the showerand yes it hurts. Also seems to dry my skin out more. Recently, I've noticed small craters where I have scrubbed away the dry bumps which are rather unsightly. I agree with the suns as treatment, I'm not advocating tanning beds but I visited one several times before my wedding and it worked wonders. My dress was sleeveless and my arms looked marvelous and on my honeymoon I wore my bathing suit with no worries.
