How to get Diprosalic and Diprosone

For anyone interested in Diprosalic--a combination of salicylic acid and betamethasone (steroid)--I ordered from www.pharm-international.com. I was a bit nervous to do it because they're in Brazil, but I received my order 10 days after placing it. I've been having great success with the salicylic acid/steroid combination--my skin is smoother and MUCH less red than it has been for years.

I think that it’s important that each one of you find the correct balance or combination that is ideal for your specific case of KP. I know that there are a lot of you out there, reading these postings and being exposed to a million different ideas all at the same time. This is why I think that it is important to clear up misconceptions. The more you know… right? First of all, I’m not against combining steroids in our regimens BUT I have to emphaize that steroids aren’t the “magical” solution to all KP problems. In my previous posting about diprosalic, bi-prosalic and SPS, I explained that while some of these products can give positive results, the combination of active ingredients specifically in dipro, isn’t optimum for the treatment of severe KP. I say optimum because the results that dipro (for example) will yield won’t be as fast or as visible as possible with a more appropriate approach. I know that you might read “appropriate approach” and think to yourselves that JC is such a conservative. I am not trying to sound preachy or “all knowing” I DO understand the desperation and I do wish for faster, more effective results for all of us. But I do have to emphasize that diprosalic isn’t magical and probably isn’t the solution for everyone out there. Here is why: diprosalic is a combination of salicylic acid 3% and SPS. Salicylic Acid at 3% concentration (opposed to in combination with urea -brynn’s mom formula) is not a very strong keratolytic. When salicylic acid is in it’s free form, completely solubilized, or in higher concentrations (like in keralyt for example), it is especially effective because it almost selectively exfoliates the INSIDE the hair follicle. Since hyperkeratosis in the hair follicle is KP’s trademark you can see why Salicylic Acid has been found to be one of the actives of choice. Since it also retains vasocontrictive properties, it reduces redness and inflimmation that may appear in some moderate and more sever cases. The second active ingredient in dipro is a super potent steroid or SPS (Class 1 if under occlusion or with solubilizers or class 2 if on simple embodiment). This steroid, as with any potent steroid, will help relieve redness associated with inflammation (not scars or marks etc.) Getting BACK to the point: the active ingredients in dipro will BOTH help improve INFLAMMATORY kp but in an “OUT OF PROPORTION” way; see, dipro is a weak keratolytic combined with a too potent steroid. It’s like sweeping you kitchen with a hand brush and then mopping with an industrialized janitor-type mop. You’ll still have dust, or, in our case, stubborn bumps, when you could have just used a more efficient broom and a regular house mop. In response to Richard’s question, try upping on the keratolytic (get a tube of keralyt) and follow with steroids ONLY if yours is an INFLAMMATORY case but start with a milder type like hydrocortisone… you can always increase the potency of the steroid as you see how your skin is responding to the combination. If you want some (really) good advice, read Debra’s earlier posting (on 7/09). Its got the addition benefit of being a lot less text-book sounding (like I know mine are!!)
