Hey! I have used exactly what you are using since I was about two years old, and I am 24 now. Sometimes I'll stop using it if I get lazy or really busy or something.... But anyway, when you first start using it, your condition will probably worsen for a week or so, but then it really clears up. It might take about 4 to 6 weeks, but I promise....THE STUFF REALLY WORKS.... you just have to keep using it. If I use it like I am supposed to, you can't really tell that I have KP. Just make sure you don't use too much at once, and I have also found that Lachydrin works well to combat the dryness you'll initially notice with Retin-A. |

HI! Thanks for posting your message. I have hope, that someday i will feel a little better about myself. I have one question that i was hoping that maybe you could help me out with though. Will the KP clear all the way up if i use the retin a microgel regularly, or will i still have some signs that it is there even though i use it as often as i am supposed to? I would appreciate your reply. THANKS! |

hello again- In my experience, which might be different for you, the microgel clears it up for me almost completely. I say "almost" because I do have occasional little flare-ups that are probably caused by changing weather. For example, really cold wind in the winter bothers my KP and causes the redness to return. Or sometimes, I'll find a few little annoying bumps on my arms. But I have found that with applying the Retin-A at night, gently exfoliating the affected areas in the shower, and a little bit of sun exposure (even though I have read to avoid the sun when using Retin-A)keeps the bumps away for the most part. I hope that helps. |

Well…. Don’t give up yet. I would give it until at least mid august before trying something else. The thing with Retin-A is that it takes a while to see any results because it is actually working to modify the differention (renewal) cylce of your upper skkin. See, the average person’s skin renewal cycle can take anywhere from 28 to 38 days. People (Like us!) with hyperkeratotic disorders will take much longer. Retin-A works to to reduce the life of this renewal cycle. As with any treatment, some will respond better to retin-a’s mechanism of action than others. So, keep using it (consistently) for a while longer and keep us posted!! |
