After reading every single posting I weighted my options and decided to give it a shot. Tha’bumps are all gone now with little scaring left (I’m a terrible picker). I have tried the glytone kit, Retin-A, and steroids with NO SUCCESS WHATSOEVER. This stuff is strong, at first it tingles a little, but it stops soon after. I noticed the stronger I scrubbed in the shower, the more it tingles. But let me tell’ya, scrubbing hard and following with this stuff makes the trick. It works and it works fast.

Her compliance with the Carmol 20/salicylic regime has dropped off. She hasn't used it in several weeks and before that, regular use was dropping.

I have been checking for the recurrence of the KP redness....and even with poor compliance, the KP has not returned in any area that we used the C-20/SA. So, for at least in Brynn's case the stuff has arrested her condition.

I went to the Publix pharmacy and the guy that worked there had no idea what I was talking about. Maybe I should just go to another pharmacy. Couple of things: I've gone to 3 local pharmacies and none of them would mix the compound for me. They say they need a prescription to mix. Secondly, I'm still confused about the % of salicytic acid. The number 3 keeps popping up. Am I supposed to mix 3% sal. acid with the carmol? OR is 3% sal. acid the FINAL concentration once it's mixed with carmol? There is a difference. Can someone please set me straight? Thanks.

Yeah I read about the wart removing stuff. but my oldest brother is a derm, as is my father. i had a prescription made instead. I really don’t know if it is carmol or not as they compounded it behind scenes and it’s currently on a jar (no brand). But I’ll ask my brother and let you know (he is out of town for a friend’ss wedding). I guess if you don’t have a derm available you can go with the wart lotion mixed in.

Yes, there is a big difference between using 3% salic. acid for the mixture, and a mixture that is 3% salic. acid...excellent point...smart catch. THe salicytic acid we use to make the mixture is 17.5%. This goes into the tube of Carmol.....I forget how much...just a couple ounces or so....you'd have to go back to my original post where I described the mixing in detail. Perhaps someone on the board has done the math, and after the mixture is made, the percentage of salic. acid in it, is 3%. Maybe that's where you keep hearing 3%. I don't know.
Plus, I didn't mix the stuff myself, the pharmacist did it the first time, and then my fiance did.

Pearl, I'm so glad you were able to get the salycitic acid. So many people on the board seem to be having some trouble getting it. I know this stuff is NOT prescription-only, so you have to be able to buy it from the pharmacist, right?! I was interested in reading that you wrote that the bumps went away pretty well, pretty quckly....that is exactly what happened with my daughter....AND the red dots were a lot harder to get rid of (but not impossible). I figure, that the red HAS to eventually go away because all it is, is a reaction to the bump, so once the bump is gone the body will eventually realize it, and stop making the red. My daughter still has a few red dots on the part of her legs where she had the KP the worst. I still believe, with dogged determination, using the lotion every night, she could get rid of them. But, she is happy with the results she has now! (very happy!) And she really doesn't like putting the lotion on, the way it feels on her, she says it is sticky, and the sheets cling to it. (she uses it at night, before bed)
