KP after birth of child

I have had the red bumps on my arms since childhood(I am now 29) but after having my first child 6 months ago the KP spread to my legs and lower arms and is worse on my legs than anywhere. Anybody else notice it being worse after having a baby? |

I too have had bumps on my upper arms (only) since childhood. I had my first child when I was 23 and don't remember the bumps getting worse or better. I recently had my 2nd child (I am 29 also) and during pregnacy noticed some bumps on my upper legs and now that I have had my little boy the KP is worse than ever on my arms and now I have it on my legs So I don't know if it's pregnacy, age, or what. I don't know that KP has a rhyme or reason because it seems for everyone there are different factors and different things that work in treating it. |

I did not have KP at all until after the birth of my first child. Until I found this site, I was convinced that it was the water in the town in which I live (I moved here just before my son was born). Now I know it's genetic and it wasn't some ph imbalance in my bathing water. |

The same thing happened to me. I had my KP under control for about 10-12 years. (no bumps or redness). About one week after I had my son my KP came back in full force. I never had it on my legs. I only had it on my arms as a child but it was pretty bad. Since I had my baby I now have it on my arms and legs. My doctor told me it might have something to do with my hormone levels and all changes my body went through.(?). Is that why most people that have KP start to see it around puberty? I have also noticed since I had my baby (which was 7 months ago) that about a week before I get my period it gets even worse then it already is. It also gets worse when I am stressed. This leads me to have several questions but I can never find answers. |

I had the exact reaction, it was twice as bad when it returned after I had the baby as well. You basically quoted word for word my experience!!! Hang in there I know how you are feeling, my baby now a year old has been diagnosed with KP as well as my 14 year old son. |

I never had KP a day in my life until now. I am 29yrs old and just had my first baby, who is now almost 6mos. KP came about a month after she was born. However, I should mention that started to get KP just right before I became pregnant and then it just went completely away during my entire pregnancy. Now it is back full force on my arms and legs. I could not wear shorts or sleeveless shirts all summer bc I was so embarrassed. Now I have found this website and I hope to try some of the solutions mentioned. I fear nothing will work. Over the past 6mos I have tried an antibiotic calle Doxycycline, Lac Hydrin, Cleocin T, Tretinoin cream, Nutrogena Acne cream, mild soaps, antibacterial soaps, dove nutrium. NOTHING WORKS!! This has to have something to do with hormones. I wonder if there is a way to manipulate your hormones? Does anyone have a child that does not have KP even though one parent does? Please let me know. This whole this is very distressing and I can't wait until Fall and winter so I can cover up!!! HELP!! |
