Do any adults have Rubra Faceii? The derm dr. told me that I have rosacea, but it just doesn't add up. I have had a red face since childhood. While looking at this site and following links, I see photos of children with Rubra Faceii. Those look more like my problem than do the photos and information about Rosacia. In addition, if I had rosacea for the past 40 years, why didn't I break out in those awful lesions at least once? My redness is more of a moderate color, and I do get some Keratosis-like bumps along the jawline, but I don't have anything severe.

Thanks for responding. I knew my derm was wrong the minute she diagnosed my red as Rosacea. Does she think I haven't thought of that possibility and dismissed it? I refused to buy the gel when my pharmacist told me how expensive it is, so I appreciate the comments about it not working.I have the bumps all over my body, too. I have been unable to find any information about Rubra Faceii except for photos that look just like me. It is beginning to seem that the red face just goes along with the bumps. Can anyone comment?

What I have been doing is using prescription Differin which seems to calm the bumps (it's an acne medication which acts as an exfoliant..related to Retin-A), taking cooler showers, keeping my stress as low as possible, eating well, wearing sunscreen daily, as well as a layer of foundation, and using 2% salicylic acid. Following these daily steps I have noticed a marked difference in the redness and the bumps on my face as well as my body. But I know I have to keep this regimen for the rest of my life if I am going to keep up the improvement, and I know that this will not clear it up completely. But, it certainly makes a difference. I've had it on my face since I was about 8, and the dermatologist said it usually fades by age 16... obviously not always the case. I'm not exactly an adult, but it has actually gotten worse within the last year or so. You probably don't have rosacea. The doctor recommended carmol cream (urea) and Aquaglycolic face cream (lactic) which is just supposed to smooth the texture of the skin. I hate being the only kid at my school with this skin disease on my face. I feel like that is all people look at when they meet me, and I find it really hard to look people in the eyes when they talk to me because all I can think about is how ugly my face is. I feel soooo much better now, however, after discovering this site. Thank you sooooo much.
