Are there many of you with children with this skin problem as my little boy who is 5 suffers from this. Wondered what treatment children have for this as it has to be not as strong products used. The doctor told me he should get better when he reaches puberty, hope so as when he starts shaving it will get very sore on his face. |

Hi Katie I use lacti care prescribed by the dermatologist. Does your son go to skin clinic? My son was discharge after he was diagnosed, and they did not seem to be bothered. My son gets worse with extreme temperatures, and gets very itchy on his cheeks and bright red, he gets very upset when scratching. We don't know where KP comes from in our family. I would like to find out if use natural products or vitamins to help his skin get better. |

Hi Jade! I honestly have not taken my son to the dermatologist for his KP. Only because I have gone so many times for my own to be told I will out grow it or to use some strange cream or prescription to have it not work. It is a very frustrating problem that the doctors do not seem to really know how to treat. So I do not want to subject him to all of that. I have found that with my many dealing with these doctors that it is a process that makes me very angry since you are greeted with the attitude that you have the problem and it will either get better or not so deal with it. Michael (my son) has been getting some pretty bad flair ups on his bottom. I think it is made worst by his diaper. However, he is just not ready to use to toilet yet. I think once that he gets some real underpants on that this will help make this area less irritated. As for a treatment for him, I have been using baby lotion on him for now and once he gets a bit bigger I will let him use some of my creams that I find help, but do not correct the problem. I do use a cream that I got for the All Natural/Organic grocery store that we have around here. If you would like I can give you the name of it. I don’t use it on Michael yet because I am afraid it might irritate his skin since he is so young. However, since you child is older you may want to give it a try. It can not hurt. ![]() From all of my reading and personal experience I have found that for myself keeping my skin well moisturized is the key. I am treating Michael’s the same way. I usually lotion him up at least twice a day. I hate to sound so negative, but it is irritating to deal with some of these doctors who do not have a clue! ![]() |
