BD,

I am reading more and more that we are much better off getting our nutrition from food, not from supplements. Not just Vit. A, but all anti-oxidant supplements are linked to increased morbidity. Of course, this means we need to eat a very healthy diet. The online BBC news says that studies show organic food is 33% higher in vitamins and minerals than non-organic. It can be difficult to eat organic all the time, but the effort is worth it if it means increased nutrition and greater health.

I'm going to cut back on sunlight to see how well this works out. I'm up to exposing the KP areas on my arms to 1 hour, and they're already tanned. I exposed the right arm[worse side] longer than the left, and today it seems kind of bad. It might just be today, though, because it usually looks worse the day I do it. However, I'm thinking it may be too much exposure so I'll probably go down to 15 minutes.

I'm starting to wonder how much the sunlight reduces the KP. I mean, it looks way better than it did before but close-up it still looks pretty bad. Which is why I went to the store today and bought some extra virgin coconut oil. It was around $25 and has 64 servings, and is said 100% certified organic. I'll probably start tomorrow with the oil pulling.

It turned out that coconut oil was in the solid form, so I havent used any yet. Anyways, my arms look better again. The KP parts that the sunlight rarely hit still look pretty bad up close, but the tanned parts look good. Many of the KP hit by the sun still have the darker spots, but are smooth. If you didn't see it, you couldnt tell it was there. Not to say it's that way for all of the KP exposed to sunlight, but it's pretty cool. I'm thinking of going out in the sun for an hour a couple more times to see how it goes before I reduce the time.

Re: Josh's Journal

Wow, I can't believe it's been half a year since I last posted here! My KP is still going strong, although the only thing I've tried out is sunlight. Since I'm done with highschool and am taking a year off before going to college, I've decided I want to get serious about this and tackle the issue.

First I've got to get a job to keep up my current healthy lifestyle as this stuff isn't cheap, but I'm going to try oil pulling to see how it goes.

The sunlight method worked ok. The KP was really bad on my arms, and it still looks pretty bad on my left arm since I didn't expose it to sunlight that much. The other arm looks nice, and if you run your hand against the area I exposed it feels pretty smooth. However, I've also gotten some skin colored KP on the back of my arms and alot on my forearms. I've had the forearms ones for years but I didn't think much about it. I also have alot of KP on my back, some on my upper chest, some on my lower chest, on my inner thighs and butt.

Under certain lighting, however, the KP on my arms that was exposed to the sun still looks very visible and bad, so I'm resorting to other methods now as winter months are approaching.

Re: Josh's Journal

Josh,

I think juiced is the most effective way to get the benefits out of fresh carrots. You could also try grating them for a salad, if you don't like the "chunks".

BD,

I remember reading this "morbidity" issue about Vit. A. There always seems to be some issue with so many remedies we try. I have not read how long is too long to take it. In any case, nutrition directly from unprocessed food remains the best source of vitamins and minerals.
