Re: my first pdl treatment
Quote:
PDL settings: 10 mm spot size: which is the size of the head of the laser, they come smaller but 10 mm covers a bigger area (cheeks) in less time. should only take about 15-20 mins a treatment. stay between 7.0 - 7.5 joules, the bruising is near none, and the swelling lasts only 2-3 days, if ur below these settings u wont have any swelling or temp bruising, or much improvement with future treatments. stacking method can be done with any setting. higher settings wont stop the flush/blush. ur derm will most definalty stay at the setting which ur skin responds to for the 1st and 2nd treatment, then u could ask him to do the stacking method. ! stay out of the sun during treatments ! Re: my first pdl treatment
Ok so I just had another treatment, I believe it was my third but I'm a bit delusional right now because its quite late and i have class early tomorrow. Anyway I went with the stacking method with the settings recommended earlier on this post and i must say it's def the way to go. I was very red for a few hours like usual, and this time i was really swollen for a few days. I didn't go out because my cheeks made me look like a chipmunk, they were that puffy, but a week later and I'm fine, plus a very large reduction in redness. I'm going to have at least one more treatment with the stacking method. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Re: my first pdl treatment
One question I forgot to ask in my last post. After this last treatment (my third time, but first time w/ stacking method) i developed what looks almost like a blister on my right cheek. It is in the dead center of the cheek and is obviously from the treatment, I am just curious if this is normal, if it should go away by itself, if i should worry and contact my derm? Any insight would be great. It is sort of a brownish blister and have never seen anything like it on my body before, not sure if i should start to worry. I figure i'll give it another week or so before I start to let it bothering me.

Re: my first pdl treatment
Hi - if you concerned give your derm a ring. My skin was really read from KPRF and KPAF when I had laser treatment and it blistered quite a bit. Just be careful not to pick at scab/blister.

Re: my first pdl treatment
out of 7 PDL treatments over 7 months I never blistered once, PDL does not blister, unless using a high energy setting, which is not necessary it should be no higher than 7.0 joules for treatment.
it could be just a bruise from the PDL, that reluts in a purpleish/redish spot, but will go away on its own withing a week. however IPL treamtent can blister easily then PDL, are u aware what treatment u had IPL or PDL? anyway a blister from IPL will go away in approximatle 10 days to heal, Ive had them before during IPL hair removal treatment on my cheeks, but never with PDL treatments for redness. make sure u keep it moist with a triple antibiotic ointment for the first 3 -4 days after treatment, then keep it moist with vaseline if no infection occurs. the blister is filled with fluid, let it stay filled as long as possible and let it brake on its own and it will leak, to prevent scarring u do this! then u will be able to peel of the dead skin once the fluid is drained and healing is near finshed, by the 10th day it will be gone. but call ur derm because I cant see it myself if it is definatly a blister, but I bet that most likely what it is, and they will give u the same instructions. do this in the meantime untill u get in touch with ur derm or one the nurses at the office. |

Re: my first pdl treatment
Thanks for the quick replies. To be honest the blemish type blister on my face is something I've never really seen before. It's not really a blister but I don't know what else to call it. It is brownish and is starting to peel on its own so I'm sure it will be gone in a few days. I'm not really sure how this happened, but it looks like no harm is done. And yes, I'm sure I had PDL treatment, this has been the third time, but I've never seen this before. I'm not worried because half of it has peeled away, its just odd that it happened in the first place, either way thanks for the quick and concerned replies.

Re: my first pdl treatment
Hi Freshone! how nice that the treatment is working...Im having a test patch done in two weeks..It was supposed to be today but somethings intervened. I just wonder, since my derm is not to optimistic about what results to expect for me, could u describe your kpfr? were is it located on your cheek and is it blotchy? I have permenant redness...but no flushing blushing...no real bumps either, but very blotchy redness though...still I've been diagnosed with kprf by several derms..Maybe there are differnt causings and thats why laser sometimes helps but not always..
I just want more info about the kprf of people who had lasertreatment with succes so I can compare!!Thanks! good luck with the purple spot btw Regina |

Re: my first pdl treatment
My KPRF covers nearly all of my cheeks, except for one small white spot on my left cheek. It was always red, even at rest, but not blotchy, more like an even dark color. I did flush more if i played sports or increased my heartrate quickly. I also did flush if i got really nervous. The pdl reduced my overall redness substantially but if i sleep oddly or am really cold it will become red and annoying again. At least now at rest it is comfortable and calm and much much less red. More like a pinkish even tone throughout my cheeks. If you have a bad case of kprf trust me i've tried everything, this is the only thing that works. My suggestion is to go with the stacking method as well, because my first two treatments were just normal one zap on each spot and the results were minimal. After the stacking method i was very puffy for a few days but it is well worth it because the results are amazing. Oh and I don't have any bumps on my cheeks, just redness.

Re: my first pdl treatment
Thank you for your reply...I guess if your kprf is due to vascular reasons..laser will help..if it;s due to a follicular problem than AHA or chemical peels might be an option...I think there are multiple causings for KPRF...
