Re: PDL (Pulse Dye Laser)

refer to my reply to this thread Can anyone help me? to get some tips. first off, u need to call the derms office and ask if they have a PDL, IPL machine or machines, the more cosmetic lasers he or she has the better expericned they should be, ask what services they provide " does the doctor treat facial redness with PDL or IPL, yes, no ? if they have a website, u can get a feel for the derm. not all derms are "cosmetic dermatologists" some are just basic general dermatology, and dont "specialize in cosmetic dermatology".

Re: PDL (Pulse Dye Laser)

Which one should I use for the redness IPL or PDL

See my problem is

My face is a little red when everything is normal but when I do anything like exercise or go into a warm room from being cold or if the air is just not good my face turns beat red and I blush and flush bad

I don't really have any of the bumps that I use to have my face is pretty smooth

I just want something to fix that problem where my face stays a normal color all the time.

No matter the cost I'll save up for it

Just let me know

I don't mean to come off mean

And thanks for the good advice Jason

Re: PDL (Pulse Dye Laser)

1 treatment is most likely not going to do it, I have had 3 PDL treatments done, which have lightened it, see it go's away in incriments if done correctly with every treatment. and my derm also wants to do some IPL, the next few treatments to go with the PDL treatments I had and having done to help, as IPL has more customizable settings then lasers do, and more wavelenghts of light that can go deeper too. but I can recomend try taking Paxil 20mg daily for a while as it gets rid of the flushing, while ur saving up for treatments, by then u can see what u look like with ur normal redness and not the excessive flushed redness on top of the normal redness, understand?

what ur asking me is what u should ask the derm who u decide will treat u. IPL is alot more complex to use then PDL so if a derm has it he should be pretty expericed with it and if he has PDL too, he is most likely a expierinced COSMETIC DERMATOLOGIST, thats what u need to look for.

Re: PDL (Pulse Dye Laser)

Thanks Jason,

I don't think I would be able to get Paxil but it does sound interesting
I was taking 5-HTP and it worked pretty well balancing me out.

Anyways I think a better question to ask you would be how do you explain your condition to a doctor?

I found a few places that have the VBeam and I am considering getting an appointment with them but what's holding me back is the fact that they say Rosacea as a treated condition for red face and nothing with KP or KPRF in there.

Pretty much all of them have that as a condition and nothing else.

Did u have the same problem when you went?

Re: PDL (Pulse Dye Laser)

No, my derm looked at me and said its not rosacea, and I said "thank you", because all the others derms I went to swore it was rosacea, just because of the constant redness.

rosacea is not as similar looking to KPRF as everyone makes it sound, rosacea covers ur nose and chin to and even possibley hideous pimples. but like I said make an appointment with a derm and see what diagnosis he gives u, (rosacea or KPRF if u dont agree, go to another derm,

do u have insurance ? most derms dont call it KPRF they just call KP on the face, all these conditons come from latin terms. and remember KPRF is rarer then rosacea so no derm is going to advertise treating it, but if treated with V beam it will be treated like treating rosace, zapping the redness. not to mention I even had a very small biopsy, to determine a definate diagnosis of KPRF.

see alot of derms will call it rosacea because they figure thats all they can treat, and they dont see KPRF alot if ever. but u should also show them the KP on ur body as to effectivly get a diagnosis of KPRF on the face.

why would u not be able to get paxil ?
doctor, prescription, pharmacy!

Re: PDL (Pulse Dye Laser)

No, it depends on the derm and u. also it depends how ur skin tolerates the treatment, and u dont want to damage ur skin by going extremly high setting, being that it will be ur first one of propably a few or more.

Re: PDL (Pulse Dye Laser)

looks like a big cosmetic place, but they dont talk about dermatology too much let alone dermatologists. looks more like a expensive skin spa.

this is from their website, its obviously not a dermatologist office.

do they accept insurance ?
