Re: Vbeam?

For those who haven't read the medical journal article

"Keratosis Pilaris RubraA Common but Underrecognized Condition"

published earlier this year one of the patients treated had a good response to PDL. This is the only scientific evidence that I know of concerning KPRF and PDL
It reads:

"25/M/White 8-9/12 None None Erythema and roughness on cheeks bilaterally, with KP on arms; no other skin findings PDL, 1 treatment with excellent
response"

I have the article in PDF format if anyone wants it (I'll have to work out to send it first though)

regards
Anne

Re: Vbeam?

Derfel,

I dont know where you heard that or read about increased hair on other parts, but its been over a year since i had ipl treatments done for redness that removed hair had some in 2005 too, and no hair on other parts. where did u here that becuase its not even a side effect, the only side effects if any are immediatly after, tender skin, and reddend sore skin after treatment. u only get increased hair in other parts from a hormone supplement like anabolic steroids or a steroid cream which i would never use. the last 2 recent treatments i had were to remove all that was left on my cheeks, and after 2 its pretty much gone. and i have a dark heavy facial hair which responds better to hair removal as compared to lighter facial hair.

Re: Vbeam?

Hi Jason

I have the article in a PDF file - Annuu sent it to me and made a link on line somewhere but I am not sure where that is.

If you PM me with your email address I can email the PDF file to you - I think!

If you can think of another option let me know

Re: Vbeam?

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share an update, I am on my 3rd v-beam treatment for flushing on my neck and chest and have seen very little results, I am noticing white spots where the v-beam treated me but I am still flushing bad and am very disappointed!

Re: Vbeam?

Hi - I was just wondering if you have ever been given a diagnosis for what is causing the flushing on your neck and chest?

Also is your face effected with the same flushing? Just checking as depending on the cause PDL may not be the answer.

Re: Vbeam?

My face also gets very flushed and my nose gets red and swollen. My mom has this and her father had it so it runs in the family and its diagnosed as extreme flushing. I have light skin so it is very noticable! The doctor said the v-beam would not cure the problem but improve it.....

Re: Vbeam?

how about a medication that would stop ur flushing and blushing instead of PDL treatments ?

if u had no improvement after 3 treatments then either the setting is to low or its not going to help.

Re: Vbeam?

Hey guys, i had my first vbeam treatment about two days ago. it went pretty well. my face was very red after the treatment but at the end of the day i could already see improvements. The doctors used low settings form my first time so the redness only subsided somewhat. The best improvement however is that i haven't had that hot feeling anymore and this alone really helps. my next appointment is scheduled a month from now. im going to ask the derm. to use higher settings this time and see if it helps. i will post the results in a month or so...

On another note there is a topical drug under development that is supposed to really help with the redness. its called Sansrosa or col-118. It is supposed to work in the same principles as eye drops so the results are immediate!!! they are under phase 2 of testing and it is showing promsing results. However it is still going to take years b4 it is on the market

Re: Vbeam?

Hi. I scheduled an appointment with my dermatologist for the Vbeam for May 16. I am in New York and the price is $150 for the consultation and $500 for the actual procedure, but if you get the procedure on the day of the consultation the $150 fee is removed, which doesn't seem like too bad of a deal. My dermatologist has done hundreds of these Vbeam procedures so I'm fairly confident in him. My only concerns are: do I have to prepare for the treatment in anyway? Is it bad to wear sunscreen or any lotion before I get the treatment? Is there a certain amount of time I should wait to shave before/after the treatment? Should I get my hands on a painkiller to take before I go in?

A little about me: I have KPRF on my cheeks and they are pinkish/red all year round. I've tried all that expensive cosmetic stuff, and honestly its all ****. This is my last hope and after hearing good things I'm going to give it a shot.

I start up a new job about 15 days after my treatment, is this enough time to fully heal? Also, I bruise fairly easily, will this prompt any problems for me? Thanks.

Re: Vbeam?

Hey freshbone. I also live in the New York area and I'm thinking of getting a V-beam treatment. Can you tell me the name of the doctor and the name of the place you are going to? Do they have a website? Much appreciated.

Re: Vbeam?

The Center For Dermatology, Cosmetic and Laser Surgery - Westchester, NY

I don't know too much about the place, i went there once and it seems alright. I talked to the receptionist and she said each doctor there does about 10-15 procedures a day with the vbeam so I'm hoping for the best.

Re: Vbeam?

Freshone,
I found another place that is cheaper but it's in New Jersey. Contact Us & Directions :: Livingston Dermatology 201 S. Livingston Ave. Livingston, NJ 07039. They said the consultation is free and each treatment costs $275-$325. The doctor said that he usually does 3-4 treatments and has experience with people with KPRF. Hope this helps.
