Lightbulb Re: anyone going to derms and working?

I went few months ago and she just told me to use eucerin facial cream with 5% urea, vitamin A that i have to take for a period and then leave and continue like this (she said i should never take vitamins just by myself, one of the reasons is that vitamin A could interact with many medicines). Besides told me to drink lots of water and fruits, vegetables, nothing new really.. and urea will help with the bumps not with redness............Ahh and said i should use a light sunblock but thats mostly cause i have some mild acne also.
Abouth sunblock, i used to feel some irritation, feel like much hotter in my kprf when used most of sunscreens so started reading about active ingredients ( the derm didnt tell me this) so this is what I got, titanium dioxide or zinc oxide are physical blockers- and are "generalists" which means can block both uva and uvb rays- acts reflecting sun light, in the other side chemical sunscreens as avobenzone (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane) is one of the best active ingredients, blocks both kind of rays but acts turning sun rays into heat which may not be good for those with sensitive skin (its not recommended for people with rosacea), physical sunblockers are known to cause less irritation. Ill make a thread about this.

For the body recommended eucerin body lotion with 10% urea, and a cream with salicylic acid 6% (but this contains esteroids so no thanks), use a moisturizing body wash as dove (said this is very very important).
Finally i cant say how this derms treatment would work cause added to some products for acne, the total treatment would cost me around 250 dollars a month, thats cause here these creams are really expensive. I took the vitamin A for two months but stopped cause im taking some medicines. And as usual with derms, she didnt ask me to come back to see how im going....

For the facial bumps ive been using St. Ives Apricot Scrub 2% salicylic acid, it has been two months and is working better than anything i used before and reduced the bumps and redness around 70% (for acne also). I use it in the rough area everyday and leave it there for 2 hours. But i have three important things to point out, i use this cause its the only product i found with salicylic acid and no alcohol so dont really know how other similar products without alcohol would work, second it has walnut shell as physicall scrub so this could be too harsh for some skins scratching it, not for everyday use so that must be adjusted for each skin type. Third, i leave it in my face for longer (cause if i leave it just for a minute as the directions the active ingredient wouldnt have enough time to penetrate the pores) buuut it contains mild surfactants (sodium laureth sulfate and cocamidopropil betaine) and fragance which could be irritating and cause oxidative damage. If i leave it for less than one hour or dont use it at least 5 days a week it does nothing, so its up to you to make the cost-benefit balance.

Hope this helps

PD: I have a question , how do i post a new thread in the english forum?

Leah,

Go to the forum under which you want to post, for example, "General Discussion". Then click on
"Forum Tools" (upper right of page). Then click "Post a new thread". Let me know if you still have trouble finding this.

KP reduced 99%. If I go "off diet" -- grains, sugars, etc. -- or stop oil pulling, KP returns.
