Good luck! The treatment looked really impressive on the website, but I have not heard anything about it. There is one picture on the website of a man with a red face that improved quite a bit, I can only assume its was red for reasons similar to us. Let us know how it goes.

I first went to see the originiator of Veinwave, Brian Newman, a couple of years ago. At the time he said that it wasn't worth treating my kind of redness because it wouldn't respond. The kind of redness that responds well is caused by visible surface vessels, but generalised, deeper redness is much harder to treat.

Recently, Ellie posted to this board about how effective Veinwave had been for her son who also had KPRF. I believe he has now had about 9 treatments.

So I went back to see Brian Newman and have now had 4 extensive test patches in the most affected area and I'm afraid there hasn't been any improvement. According to Mr Newman, I'm the first case he's seen which hasn't improved at all but I'm not sure if that can be true. He thinks it may be because I previously had so many laser treatments.

Anyway, it didn't work for me but it has worked for someone else on this board so it may be worth considering.

Rick

Rick, yeah that Ellie person was the one who told me about it also. She has dissappeared thoug after chatting with her 3 or 4 times. I am beginning to get suspicious. What kind of redness do you have? Cheeks, ears? how red? all the time? Flushing? And the impression i got from her was he had 2 treatments not 9 ???? take care, how old are you?

My problem has always been the classic KPRF mixture of permanent redness and flushing. The worst redness is on the side of the face rather than at the front.

I don't have any doubts that Ellie is genuine. Mr Newman himself told me that her son had had something like 8-9 treatments in total but had improved from each one.

Perhaps the reason you haven't heard from her recently is that once people don't have a problem any more, they don't come back here looking for answers.

Good luck to her if it worked for her son - I just wish I understood why it didn't work for me. Still, I had previously had something like 70 laser treatments so it wasn't a big surprise.

I'm sure that future generations of lasers will have no problem eradicating this problem in a couple of sessions, but in the meantime we're left with technologies like Veinwave which may be worth trying if you have the time and money.

Rick

veinwave

hi everyone..I havent postyed in a while..major computer problems, but I'm back....I never heard of veinwave, but my son who is 16 and has red cheeks(one Derm said it was uerythema ooporogynes...2 other ones said no) and it really bother s him at times..he gets sick and tired of everyone always asking him why his face is so red!!!! I live in NY and have never heard of veinwave, but am interested if there is any good results....I always thought the way to go was pulse dye laser..is that still the recommended treatment( if there is any treatment) I have put off getting my son the laser cause it seems like the results are so varied..I figured the longer we wait maybe something miraculous will come around....Robin

my sons ears are also red..and his chin...his face is red in the morning, but not as red as in the afternoon....Have you had any laser???? I was told that pulse dye laser was the laser of choice..I was told by the dermatologist that thought he had uleryuthema oophorogynes to take him to Boston Childrens hospital for evaluation for laser...at the time he was 13 and that sounded drastic to me!....There is so much contradictory information..I just want something that will work for him. Some people on this site say the laser works, and others have little to no benefits from it...hopefully we will have more people respond to this thread...Robin

Photoderm is useless for this condition and I haven't heard of a single person who has had any success with it at all. Sometimes it improves Rosacea, but KPRF is not the same. Photoderm is not actually a true laser but an IPL (Intensed Pulsed Light) device and can improve skin texture and collagen thickness etc.
I also travelled to Dr Bitter (senior) for 5 Photoderm sessions but had no results.

I have heard that the V-Star laser has produced quite good results for somebody with this condition but it didn't work for me either.

Unfortunately there is no foolproof treatment as yet but I'm sure there will be much better results with the next generation of lasers.

There is some treatment for flushing listed online by a clinic in san antonio texas, it says something about hyperhydrosis and the removal of a nerve in the rib area to prevent the flushing of the upper body. I understand it can have some side effects from the site. Maybe if you do a search on google u can find the site. Good luck.
And the vein wave... if u remove those vessels wouldnt it effect long term skin elasticity/growth?

Ellie- where in the UK do you live? I am looking for a good dermatologist in the London area, or up to an hour train ride outside of London for a friend. If you know of one, please let me know. Thanks!
