This thread is only for posts about members' positive experiences reducing KPRF redness. It is not meant for what doesn't work. It is not meant for questions and discussion. Please start a new thread to discuss or question.
Please post here if you have successfully reduced your redness. Give details, such as name of product or description of method, where product is purchased and how much it costs, how severe your KPRF is, how long you have had it. Also include the percentage your redness has reduced and for how long you have been following this successful method. This thread is meant to be a collection of every successful method or product. It is not meant to be a thread that is dominated by only one or a few products or methods. If you want to discuss the method or product with the original poster, please go to their thread to discuss it. I will also paste posts here from other threads when someone details success with reducing redness. kebod Last edited by kebod; 02-25-2009 at 09:49 AM.. |

Fadeout's Success with Redness
How I gained control of my KPRF so its basically unnoticeable
Hello, this is my first post on this board, although I previously have roamed it endlessly (along with many others) looking for a cure for my KPRF. Since I was a young teen this condition has affected my life badly and it was only recently that I found a routine which gives me complete control over it and keeps it mostly unnoticeable. The only times where its noticeable now are the common situations such as exercise, alcohol, cold weather etc. I just wanted to try and help others who dont yet have it under control because I remember how hard it was. Things that work: Finacea Gel This stuff is known for reducing redness in rosacea sufferers and is also known for softening keratin which is why I think it works so well. ND: YAG Laser Our paticular skin condition cannot be helped much by lasers like general rosacea can. Although, this paticular laser treatment helps because it penetrates deep targetting the blood vessels rather than the surface skin, focusing on the flushing. Dr Nick Lowe Redness Correcting Cream This is by far the best moisturiser to combat red skin. It has active ingredients to combat and block red skin and also is skin color tinted to mask redness. Dermatologica Redness Relief This stuff is really soothing and green tinted, both calming skin redness and masking it. Kava Kava This stuff really keeps you calm and mellow, thus reducing flushing. good luck guys, hope i've helped fadeout Read original post here How I gained control of my KPRF so its basically unnoticeable |

Jason's Sucess in Reducing Redness
20 mg Paxil daily cures facial blushing and flushing.
been taking half dose (10mg) for 2 months then upped it to 20mg full dose on 12/22/07 and I have not flushed or blushed since. even when I wake up from sleeping on side of my face Im not really red like I would be from laying on either side when sleeping, as for the roughness on my cheeks thats been gone for 2 months now since I had IPL hair removal done only on my cheeks (smooth skin) and as for the redness thats always there but not the beet redness like when your flushed or blushing since no more from the paxil, Im getting PDL treatments. 1 done so far. I take the paxil at night around 10:00 or 11:00pm, because it is prescibed for social anxiety disorder (SAD) and blushing and flushing excessivley is one if not the major symptom of (SAD) it regulates the serentonin in ur body. it is a presription you can get from your family doctor and it comes in generic too, its been around for about 10 years. Jason Read original thead here http://www.keratosispilaris.org/kprf...aroxetine.html Note: Like all prescription meds, paxil and other antidepressants have side effects, some very serious. Please do your own research and be fully aware of side effects if you decide to try paxil. |

Re: Collection of Success Posts for Reducing Redness
Thanks Kebod, what you have said so far has been excellent. I, too have been suffering from this condition for a while. A few questions:
1. Do you know of any water-proof redness masker? 2. Is Dr Nick Lowe's redness correcting cream available in America? 3. How much redness can be ridden without laser treatment? |

Re: Collection of Success Posts for Reducing Redness
hey guys! I'm 18, i posted recently asking for help on treatment. Well ive started to take omega 3 pills alongside cetaphil during shower. And ive also started applying aloevera on areas containing KP. These 3 combined together have reduced my KP by about 60% and im so so so glad its working! Im not sure which of the products are responsible for the reduction though, cause i use them all at the same time.
The bumps are still there, but has lessened 60% while the redness is almost completely gone (80-90% gone) I take Fish Oil Bio-Life (this is also the same as omega 3 yeah), there are definitely other brands but this works for me. For the aloevera gel, I used to use this particular brand, holland and barrett aloe vera gel. I thought it was really great and worked most effectively but after i ran out of it, i couldnt find stock of it so now im using Banana boat aloe vera gel and its still fine. The 60% reduction has maintained up till now (about 1-2 months now) and im more confident wearing sleeveless tops! The guy that used to call my KP "fungus " recently exclaimed, 'hey, your fungus is gone! "I hope these treatment work for you and i will update more if i find anything that works better. does anyone know any treatment for scaly skin? i happen to have scaly skin behind my calves and the amount of moisturizing cream i splatter on is crazy, but there are still scales, or rather deep set dots, and when i scratch them, the skin looks rather transparent and stretchable which is why i call them scales, gosh how do i explain this. please do tell me anythg that has worked for anyone with scaly skin thanks cheers! |

Re: Collection of Success Posts for Reducing Redness
I've been using omega 3 pills too, I pop the liquid out of them and spread it on (I also take 2 every morning orally), i noticed a reduction in redness a few hours after my first use. I used aloe vera, but it didn't do much.

Re: Collection of Success Posts for Reducing Redness
Hi, its great to hear so many success stories and some great hints for keeping the skin in good condition, I have found using Keihls (sp?) soy extract body scrub is good for the bumps as is the derma doctor chicken bumps micro demabrasion and boil oil afterwards, but I really want to get rid of the redness.
I have been wheat and dairy free for three days (woo) I feel like an addict taking it one day at a time as the majority of my diet is dairy and wheat based. These cures for redness and the supplements sound great but are there cheaper alternatives? (Im being made redundant at the end of next week) so need creams that are cheap but work. I will keep you updated on my progress I really want clear arms for my birthday which is the 22nd of June so keeps your fingers crossed! Also has anyone noticed at the start of the detox they break out in spots? My chon has turned into a war zone the likes of which I haven't seen since I was at school! Good Luck all Px |

Re: Collection of Success Posts for Reducing Redness
I am having success with Evening Primrose Oil capsules. I take 500mg capsules. Whole Foods brand. I take one a day.
The standard level of redness is now low most of the time. My face never burns/feels hot anymore. I don't think about my cheeks anymore. The effect of my old triggers is greatly or completely reduced (70%-100% reduction) My old triggers were: alcohol, embarrassment(this one still causes redness a little, but it doesn't burn anymore, and doesn't last as long), cold weather, hot showers, hot rooms (this one still causes redness, though not as bad as before), and exercise. |

Re: Collection of Success Posts for Reducing Redness
20mg Seroxat/Paxil(SSRI) reduced my flushing/blushing, l no longer get that crazy(
) red color and it also reduced the lenght of flushing/blushing by 95%.I can still get red from cold or really hot weather, but it is really minor and goes away within seconds. It has been a month since I started and I have noticed the SSRI effect starting to kick in, for the first time in years I actually managed to sit in a waiting room around people for 45 minutes without getting red and without sweating. When I got to see the doctor I was really calm and I did not panic at all! The only side effect I have gotten has been headache the first day. |

My treatment: Oil pulling daily; candida diet (minimum of carbs, no sugars); omega-3 from canned salmon and sardines; sun exposure 10-15 minutes, 3 days a week, without sunblock; program to strengthen immune system; probiotic supplements; lots of water; moderate daily exercise; exfoliation with epsom salts and sugar several times a week. KP reduced 99%. If I go "off diet" -- grains, sugars, etc. -- or stop oil pulling, KP returns. |
