Evening Primrose Oil diminished my KPRF
Evening Primrose oil, taken just twice a week, has cured my KPRF. I use the 500mg capsules.
Actually, Evening Primrose oil may have been causing diarrhea, so I switched to Borage oil in April, 1000mg, and it is just as effective, but has not caused any GI problems. I don't flush when anxious, I don't flush when I am hot, I don't flush when I exercise, I don't even flush after a long hot shower. Evening Primrose oil has anti-inflammatory properties Important notes: Evening Primrose oil can cause GI problems (stomach pain, diarrhea, gas) for some people. For me, I found this was only a problem when I was taking it every day. For guys, taking it every day caused erectile dysfunction for me (the oil stops inflammation everywhere, heh). When I went to taking it only twice a week, things went back to normal. PM me if you have any questions. How I found this: I started taking the Ultimate Beauty Oil mixture back in July 2007. There is a thread about that somewhere in this forum. Well, it cured the KPRF for me. The oil was expensive and a pain to make, so I started experimenting to see if maybe only one of the oils was really helping. The first thing I tried, the Evening Primrose Oil, gave me the same results as the whole mixture, so I concluded that it alone, or at least it, was effective. |

Re: Evening Primrose Oil CURED my KPRF
no more redness on ur cheeks at all ?
its gone all the time ? emu oil is a way stronger anti-inflammatory then primose oil, and users never mentioned they were cured of KPRF with emu oil. |

Re: Evening Primrose Oil CURED my KPRF
Congrats on the great news, Tanaka! Are you 100% certain that what you have is KPRF? My daughter has it, and we've tried many things with no luck. I bought 4- 500ml bottles of the Viridian Beauty Oil, but I cant get her to use it regularly; she really hates the taste. I still have 3 full bottles! I think I'm going to order some evening primrose for her. You were taking one 500mg capsule twice a week? How long did it take to notice the effects of the ultimate beauty oil when you were using it? Thanks!

Re: Evening Primrose Oil CURED my KPRF
that ultimate beauty oil did nothing for my KPRF.
seems there is never one thing that works on everybodys skin. I have been using finacea for a week now, and despite being drying, it seems to be smoothing out my bumps, and clearing my skin up in general. Terry |

yogataz:
Hmm, I can't believe it didn't help you at all. I know it was the oil that helped, because when I stopped taking it, the flushing would come back. Daddy-O: Yes, I am 100% certain that what I have it KPRF. It looks like all the pictures I have seen of it. I feels bumpy like people say their cheeks are like. I flush when I am anxious (well used to), worse in the winter, etc. etc. I would think one would get used to the taste of the oil after a while. But, if you go with the Evening Primrose oil, there is no taste since it is in a gel capsule. The Evening Primrose is much cheaper than the beauty oil, and you can find it at Whole Foods, or some other health food store. Yes, I take one 500 mg capsule twice a week. When I started I was taking it every day, and that was for about 4 months. It took only 1 week to notice less flushing due to the effects of the ultimate beauty oil. Maybe full effect in two weeks? It was pretty fast. And when I stopped taking it, the flushing would come back in a matter of days. jason1901: There is a tiny tiny bit of pinkness in the cheeks. I can get it to go away 95% if I take the oil more often. Yes, it is like this all the time. I don't know about emu oil. I really want to hear if other people are having success with the Evening Primrose oil. I hate it when people post something saying they found a cure, but then it doesn't really work or something. But for me, this really does work, and I know the oil is what helped. If the oil isn't helping people, I will think about what other changes it possibly could have been. Because I don't have that problem any more, and I want to help other people get the same results. |

Re: Evening Primrose Oil CURED my KPRF
i really didnt see any difference after 2 weeks of using the oil...kinda made me feel sick though.
I so wanted it to work becasue the girl who advertised it over on the rosacea forum looked like she had (mild) KPRF. Terry |

Re: Evening Primrose Oil CURED my KPRF
could you possibly post photos of your face before and after u started using the oil.
when u say it looks like typical KPRF...do u have permanent redness, regardless of flushing? Flushing is one thing, and there are various meds that can help with that, but for an oil to cure PERMANENT redness, that is incredible. Terry |

Re: Evening Primrose Oil CURED my KPRF
I am a natural sceptic that has not been into a health food store in their life. I believe that eating a balanced healthy diet should be enough ..... however I cannot get away from the fact that this whole EFA thing keeps reappearing as being helpful.
i.e. the oil pulling, the oil that helped that girl on the Roscecea forum. A while back Rachel started this thread that caught my attention: http://www.keratosispilaris.org/gene...ease-read.html A lot of us have read that vitamin A deficiency produces KP and that the drug Roacuttane (a deriviative of Vitamin A) has been helpful in treating some of the rarer KP variants. So......you would think Vitamin A had some link with KP however when you get a test done your levels are normal or if you take Vitamin A supplements there is no change in your KP. ![]() This is just a thought that I have had for a while and thought I would put it out there: Do you think that part of our problem lies in the ability of our bodies to utililise vitamin A. Rachels thread states that EFA's are needed for vitamin A to be utilised. My scientific evidence on all this is sketchy at the best. Has anyone found any evidence or link with why and if EFA's will help with KP and its variants. Tanka's post can't be ignored. Most of us weren't born with KPRF or UO or KPAF so something must have changed in our bodies in our teens for these conditions to show. Anne |

Re: Evening Primrose Oil CURED my KPRF
I have posted two pictures below. It's the best I could do.
You should be able to get some idea. The redness didn't really come through in almost any of the pictures of me that I have. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Tanaka; 05-16-2008 at 04:23 PM.. |

Re: Evening Primrose Oil diminished my KPRF
u know a flash from a camera makes KPRF invisible in pictures, just a heads up. not to mention anyone with KPRF, does not notice it as much from the front as they do from the sides.

Re: Evening Primrose Oil diminished my KPRF
Yeah, I know lighting makes a huge difference on how much the redness shows up in pictures. Unfortunately these are the best representations of the difference I can show you. In "real life" the difference is quite substantial and real.

Re: Evening Primrose Oil diminished my KPRF
i do kinda see a change, but as jason said, the angles and lighting differs in both pics, so its hard to really judge.
I have started taking 4x 1000mgs of flax seed oil per day to see if that helps. I will buy evening primrose oil this weekend, as its worth a try. Terry |

Re: Evening Primrose Oil diminished my KPRF
Really, I don't think the pictures will be much help. As you know, you can be flared up sometimes, and sometimes it is just there the normal amount. I don't have many pictures that show the redness, and the second picture is really what I look like all the time now, whatever the lighting was in that picture. And I can't/don't want to go back to flushing again so I can take a better picture of what it looked like. You'll really just have to trust me that I have KPRF, and that the oil worked for me.
I hope you give it a try. A bottle of the oil costs 15$ or something. |
