My ZincO assesment

Just got ZincO last night. It has a nice texzture and blends into the skin very well. The tinted version covers pretty good, but more importantly it blends the skin tone somewhat. Like you can see the redness but it is watered down and blended more. Also it does not make you look ghostly and can easily be washed off just using water.

The Shopping Cart : Linda Sy Skin Care, The Art of Beautiful Skin

It is a product that acts kind of like Eucerin daily perfecting lotion, but it is spf 20 a moisturizer, tinted to help cover redness, flesh colored, and can be easily washed off. Read about it on the rosacea forums and gave it a try, definetly replaces my eucerin covering stuff.

Re: My ZincO assesment

Sounds like a product I'm going to have to try..

Like yourself I've been using the Eucerin Redness Relieft SPF 15 **** and it DOES help, however it gives my skin a dry flaky look.

Your condition sounds almost exactly like mine, I'm 16 turning 17 in feb. and my KPRF started when I was 12 or so, I only noticed it when I was 15 and a cousin of mine said "Why are your cheeks so red?" That's when I developed a self-anxiety disorder about if / when I was flaring up.

I also saw some of your posts where you talked about some sort of prescribed steroids? How'd those work out?

Re: My ZincO assesment

Yes the Eucerin Redness relief is very good about covering a lot of the redness, but it tends to make me look pale sometimes, i actually use the zincO on top of the eucerin ATM. I only do this when i know i will be inside, because here in FL it is so Hot and humid that sometimes it looks like i am melting lol. Anyways i decided to quit the prescribed steroids, i believe my derm thought, and still thinks that i have rosacea and the steroids would help. It is true that the steroids are VERY effective, to the point where i would look completetly normal with no skin conditions. Although every often i might use the steroid when i go to a fancy dinner or w/e i don't use it regularily.

Anyways i have not been very active with the forums because i just started college and have been doing very well with managing my anxiety. I am currently on 30 Mg of Paxil and 150 mg of Wellbutrin daily.

Re: My ZincO assesment

How much redness do you think was covered up with the combination? I see the site says to put some Vita-Oil on before but it's pretty expensive and doesn't seem like it would help redness.

Also how do you put the eucerin under it?
I feel that after I put my eucerin on it's sort of sticky for a good hour or so..

Re: My ZincO assesment

In my experience i believe the eucerin does the most for the redness, the zincO seems to help a little on the redness because it is tinted tan, but mostly i use the zinc to just bring the natural tone of my skin back.

The eucerin usually makes me look sort of ghostly. The way i usually do it is put the eucerin on in a thin layer similar to a lotion and go do something for 15-20 minutes until it sort of sinks into the skin a little, then put the zincO over it. I always use very thin layers because of the fact that i am a Guy, and don't exactly want to explain to people why i am wearing something that could be catagorized as a make-up. Also i shave every morning with an electric shaver(I find these the most effective without irritating my face). This can be important because when any of these products go on your face, it becomes obvious that you have something unnatural on your face.

My skin has a slight olive tan to it because my dad has some frenchin him, but my mom is very white sensative skin and i probably inhereted this condition from her, so i just use the ZincO tan version straight up without mixing any with the non-tan version of ZincO.

One more thing i thought i would mention, I do not condone the use of any type of steroids on the face(Which is the thinnest skin on the human body or close to it) long term. Although i did use steroids probably 4-5 times a week on my face for atleast a year and at most 2 years, i experienced no problems. But as i am sure you are well aware different chemicals effect people differently.
