Redness relief!!!!

There is a topical drug under development that is supposed to really help with the redness. its called Sansrosa or col-118. It is supposed to work in the same principles as eye drops so the results are immediate!!! they are under phase 2 of testing and it is showing promsing results. However it is still going to take years b4 it is on the market. Here is a link to the article. CollaGenex Pharmaceuticals Announces Highly Positive Results of Phase 2 Dose-Finding Trial of Col-118 for the Treatment of Erythema

Re: Redness relief!!!!

Thanks Lobo

That sounds amazing - a topical cream that can reduce erythema down to practically nothing for up to 6 hours.

I know it is not a cure as such but it would certainly make the life of those suffering with KPRF and KPAF a lot more bearable.

Can you keep up posted on any more developments.

Re: Redness relief!!!!

This sansrosa/col-118 product was supposed to be heading towards Phase 3 trials during 2008, but it looks like these trials will now only start at the end of2008 - a delay of several months. Who knows if we will even see it before 2009 !

Re: Redness relief!!!!

"As a safety precaution, FDA has requested that we repeat this study in rosacea patients to demonstrate that plasma levels of COL-118 are not increased in patients with the disease skin of rosacea. We anticipate completing the study in the third quarter of 2008 and commencing our Phase III clinical trials before the end of 2008."

This is from the first link above - I wonder if they would do a trial involving KPRF sufferers??? Just a thought

Re: Redness relief!!!!

Oracea is just a low dose form of doxycycline. It is suitable for those who want less of the normal side effects from antibiotics, and potentially safer over the long term also. Another alternative, and a much cheaper one is to take 50mg of doxycycline per day.

Periostat (doxycycline) goes generic, get ready for Oracea is one page I wrote that gives some background on oracea.

Re: Redness relief!!!!

I have been hearing about this Sanrosa on the rosacea forum for quite a while.

A lot of people are really counting on it to work where nothing else has worked before.

It should be released in summer 2009 at the earliest but 2010 is more likely.

Here is one of many likes to different updates about sansrosa.

Update: Melontan predicted available before sansrosa - The Rosacea Forum

Also maybe this would be helpful for someone looking to try something new.

Pyratine-6 comes out in Feb. 2008 - The Rosacea Forum

Oracea, is effective for the papule and pustule part of rosacea. which are the nasty pimples that rosacea sufferers get, but not the general redness.
