I believe that KPRF has a lot to do with which region your from. I'm from Alberta, Canada where its really dry and I see a lot of people with the same condition as me and our humidity levels are very low. Everyone on this board should post where their from and how many other people they've seen with KPRF. I swear I see at least 1 person a week with KPRF and it bothers me because I know what their going through. I'm thinking that places with higher humidity have less people with KPRF and places with low humidity have higher amounts of people with KPRF.

Re: Weather and KPRF (Humidity)
I am from Texas and I can only think of two people who I have ever seen who have anything like the amount of redness I have on a regular basis and I have never seen anyone flush to the same extent as I do. I now am attending school in Arkansas and really have only noticed 4 other people on campus with red faces and only noticed one person who had the amount of redness in a flush that resembled mine.
I do believe the weather has at least a little to do with the disease because the bumps first developed when my face was extremely dry. I have had the redness for 5 years and can even begin to remember when that actually started. I hope things will get better as spring is here and the air is much more humid. |

I myself have never seen anyone with a condition like mine. That makese things even worse for me Anyway I think it's the change in weather that really aggrevates my KPRF. It's almost spring here and during this time of the year my face is very sensistive. |

Re: Weather and KPRF (Humidity)
i live in Massachussetts and there definatly is alot of people with the same condition.
im pretty sure that we can conclude that the environment is a huge factor in this condition. |

Re: Weather and KPRF (Humidity)
for myself humidity is a huge factor. when i spent time in inidia and thailand, both incredibly humid, my KPRF practically disappeared. When i returned to the UK, the condition came back instantly.

Re: Weather and KPRF (Humidity)
I agree that the enviorment is part responsible to KPRF, but there is NO way to get away from that factor. unless u live in a bubble.

Re: Weather and KPRF (Humidity)
using a humidifier during colder/dryer weather helps....not as much as moving to a tropical environment, but....hahah

Re: Weather and KPRF (Humidity)
Or unless you move to a place with high humidity, when winter hits this year I'm going to take a trip and I'll test if places with high humidity effect KPRF. And if it does I'll just live there.

Re: Weather and KPRF (Humidity)
my kprf looked the same no matter what the weather, ur making humidity sound as if its the only cause for kprf.

Re: Weather and KPRF (Humidity)
no one here has said it is the only cause, we all know there are multiple factors, but THIS thread is for humidity; we're all just saying OUR KPRF has improved with humidity/sun/warmer weather. there are even dermatological websites funded by universities and medical institutions that site this issue.

Re: Weather and KPRF (Humidity)
I live in Seattle, Washington and the weather is very wet and rainy. We have very little to no humidity. I really can't think of seeing anybody with the same redness as me. I was scanning the crowd at a baseball game last night and I couldn't find anybody who was even a little red. Very annoying.

Re: Weather and KPRF (Humidity)
That is interesting because I was at Fenway Park yesterday and I noticed a lot of people with very defined areas of redness, similar to mine. It was sunny and the beer was flowing so I am sure that had a lot to do with it.
Could it be that the reason we notice less redness in humid weather is because the high humidity forces us sweat from our cheeks? When it is dry, perhaps the sweat glands remain closed/blocked on our cheeks due to the KP. Maybe the forced sweating helps to dissipate the heat from our cheeks, hence less redness? And when it's dry we don't sweat making heat dissipation more difficult, meaning more redness. I always notice a difference around October when the weather starts to really get dry in New England. |
