Anxiety meds and Adderall - Interesting effect on KPRF

Ok, to start off, I do not have ADD or ADHD, but I know I have general and/or (mainly) social anxiety problems that were probably brought on by KPRF. We all know that KPRF is almost certainly a dermatological and psychological issue (I.E, the skin problem causes the psychological which then worsens the skin problem).

The two methods of treating KPRF are skin treatments and drugs for anxiety, depression, etc.

I haven't had a chance to go to the doctor about drugs for anxiety or social phobias as my parents think that "I'm going through a phase" or something stupid like that. I'm guessing that I have generalized anxiety as well as social anxiety because my heart will begin to beat rapidly at random times, and the "fight or flight" instinct kicks in for no apparent reason.

I have obtained and experimented (but not without extensive research - remember, almost everything doctors know is available online) with Lexapro, Valium, Remeron, Concerta, and Adderall.

Valium: helped the anxiety, but I know it's addictive so I stopped after the first test

Lexapro: Social and general anxiety effects went down about 13%, no help with blushing.

Remeron:
Great for social anxiety, but makes you feel a bit sluggish

Concerta & Adderall: Interestingly, anxiety is a common side effect of these drugs. I tried them during school, and within 30 minuets my confidence was soaring. In situations when I would normally blush, my face was as cool as ever.

Remeron & Adderall:
I have been using Remeron (15mg) at night and Adderall (30mg) in the mornings. While my resting heart rate was a little bit above normal, it was nothing like the anxiety episodes I have experienced. Heat still made me flush, but it subsided quicker than usual. Working out still causes a flush, but it too quickly subsides.

Bottom Line: A stimulant such as Adderall used in conjunction with Remeron creates a 95% improvement in social anxiety and emotionally triggered flushing & blushing. This has worked on me, but everyone is different. This is probably not as effective as Paxil, but probably a bit safer.

curious why do u think Paxil is not safe ? Paxil was made for social anxiety disorder. Adderall is used to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Yeah, Paxil seems safe to me. the only side effects i have come by is weight gain and some constipation but that could easily be countered by a change in diet.

Paxil warns of increased suicide risk. While this risk is very small, it is still significant enough that the FDA warns doctors about it.

Also disturbing is the news that Glaxo SmithKline manipulated data concerning sucide tendancy in depressed adults.
"Ethical Human Psychology and Psychiatry (EHPP) has published an excerpt from a previously sealed product liability report against Glaxo SmithKline (GSK). The medical expert report documents how the company systematically hid and manipulated data concerning Paxil-induced suicidality in depressed adults. The number of suicide attempts on the antidepressant Paxil was under-reported and the number of suicide attempts on placebo was inflated. "

Anybody taking any drug should be aware of side effects.

Re: Anxiety meds and Adderall - Interesting effect on KPRF

well, all drugs have their side effects.

Paxil is probably safe, but I have to convince the doctor and my parents to allow me to take it.

I have been having more anxiety episodes lately- I don't know why.

I have never had any sort of problems like this before, and I think that I may be developing anxiety problems...

In the past I used certain stimulants and always noticed a decrease in the appearance of the constant redness. But I would highly recommend not to use them, as they cause more problems then they solve and its only a temp fix.

another benefit is that these drugs will be instant acting, so if you only want to use them now and again they will still be effective, rather than paxil. iceman; do you think adderall by itself will stop the flush? I'm looking for a single thing to take before very intense situations like giving a speech infront of alot of people, because apart from that I wouldnt really need it in general life

fadeout

Re: Anxiety meds and Adderall - Interesting effect on KPRF

Does Adderall need to be prescribed by a doctor or can it be obtained over the counter? It interests me, i told my doctor that KPRF is effecting my confidence, he kept informing me he cant prescribe anything for skin as its not his field, he tried to give me a moisturiser but i didnt even bother obtaining it. So is Adderall freely available?

being afraid of speaking in front of alot of people is social anixiety or social phobia , which is what is causing ur flushing/blushing, and being afraid of flushing/blushing in public is another form of anxiety all due to having KPRF.

Re: Anxiety meds and Adderall - Interesting effect on KPRF

This is from post #4 from the thread my defense to rcm's reply to flushing/blushing treated with P.

"Until I hear back from Juan and Elsa, our two administrators, there will be no further discussion on the use of paxil to treat KPRF. Violating this will lead to being banned."

We will not discuss medical usage of Paxil. I'm not a doctor, Jason is not a doctor. People, talk to a doctor if you have questions about Paxil!

Jason, you have been asked not to discuss the use of Paxil. If you missed this request the first time, it is copied at the beginning of this post. I have tried to be very patient with you, I value your contributions on this forum, but paxil is one area where we are having a problem, due to its very severe side effects.

I don't know how else I can phrase this for you to understand that this forum is not dispensing information on taking Paxil.

If you take paxil or other anxiety controlling meds, talk to a doctor. You need professional advice if you take a med that may cause suicidal tendancies, sexual disfunction, increased risk of heart attack and severe withdrawal symptoms, to name just some of the side effects.
