Exclamation My surgery

Hi guys, I have been suffering from KPRF for a long time, i saught treatment last year and the creams I used did not help much. Anyway, when I asked by dermo. about laser surgery he said it would probably be very helpful since its symptoms are very like rosacea. I visited a doctor who does these procedures who is a graduate of Harvard medical school and he says he had previous success with treating KPRF. He says it might take between 3 and 4 procedures i think its called photoderm laser or something like that. I already schedualed my first treatment around the 10th of july , I will definately keep you guys posted with the results.

laser surgery

I have been looking intio the possibility of laser surgery for my son...Here in upstate NY I can only find one dermatologist who works with the vbeam laser. I am really anxious to hear how the laser works on your KPRF..let us know, and good luck!

Hi guys, I just had my first treatment about a week ago (sorry i didnt post any sooner). Anyway I found out that the laser used is a pulsed dye laser, the brand of the laser used is VBEAM. the doc decided to higher the setting alittle on the first treatment,, i guess he felt comfortable doing so,, i think it was like 60ms or something like that. It was a lit painful ,,,of coarse nothing that you can't handle ,, it feels like someone snapping a rubber band on your face. The doctor predicted that i might bruise,, however i only hand very small bruise like spots which are faiding away. the first few days my face was beat red but nothing too bad,, i was able to go to work after 3 days. According to a literature paper they gave it it is estimated that the redness will decrease in 4 to 6 weeks, dont forget that i still need multiple treatments.
So, so soon it is hard to see any improvement ,,,which is ofcaorse expected.
My next treatment is sometime in mid augest so i will keep you posted,,feel free to ask me any questions.
Omar

Been almost 3 weeks now. Ofcoarse no evidence of the procedure(bruises, marks,,etc) is left on my face. The redness of the condition itself has decreased- I see an improvement,,however very little and minimal,,however it is little enough for me to notice. Major improvement is expected with the following few treatments.

Post 2nd Treamtment

Had my 2nd treatment 3 days ago. Boy my face is pretty swelled and bruised up. I think he raised the setting from 1 mS the 1st treatment to 3 mS fo this (2nd treatment). My face got pretty puffy especially under my eyes,, and I got dark purple bruises on my face. The weird thing that both myself and the doctor thought, it that not all areas that were treated bruised, some areas had more bruises than others. Anyway, can't really tell what the results are ganna be like,, let you know when the bruises fade in a few weeks.
It kinda sucks though because I can't leave the house with face like that. So you really have to take a vacation of work or do it during long school breaks. But remember my first treatment wasn't so intense so i recovered in less than a week.
Feel free to ask me any questions ,,,good luck to all of us

Hi,
I really don't know what to tell you. I have had 3 laser treatments so far, with little improvement...little..but noticable....furthermore, the redness area is still the same, but the intensity of the redness is a little...and i emphasize a little less. What i noticed though is that my face does not get as beat red as it used to in cold weather. Also, i used to wake up in the morning with wrinckes from the pillow, and now they are alot less. so i dont know if the wrong vessels were targeted or not. Another thing it all depends on the intensity of the laser..and sometimes the redness may fade alittle on some areas and others not...i am still going to give it one more try this summer, were i will go to full strength with the vbeam, if that shows significant imporvement, i will continue treatment. What im trying to say is that it has its pros and cons,, your son may have better results or worse.. I dont want to encourage you or discourage you, but if i were you i will have multiple consultations with laser professionals in your area,, make sure they are M.D.'s and have a good reputation. As for me, im in michigan, but my laser doctor graduated from harvard. feel feel to ask me any other questions..good luck...also more thing,,,this process needs patience and multiple sessions..

Hi..I had seen your posts on the Keratosis Pilaris site, and was wondering if the laser that you had in the summer was successful?? I live in upstate NY, my son is 16 and has the red face and ears..WE were told that laser may be helpful, and were told to go to Boston for evaluation for laser..I saw in your post something about Harvard..Are you in Mass?? I want to find something that will help my son...We have tried all the creams, lotions, eetc, and nothing did ANY good..I want to try the laser, but I dont want to put him through all the bruising if the results are not going to be positive.. I heard that pulse dye laser was the one that people were having good results with..Now I hear about veinwave, but it looks like its only being done in England!!!I would really love to hear from you..I hope it all went well, ...Email me when you get a chance..Thanks, Robin
