re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
jason1901 i have question about the paxil pills, while your on them do you still feel the heat in your cheeks sometimes? like when your drinking alcohol or if you are in a hot room? or how about when your out in the cold and then go in a warm place do they start to flush like madness? I hope you can answer these questions as this problem really is starting to get in my brain.. i never really cared or even bothered to care about them but im 17 right now and its really hard.. and another question, i've been thinking about seeing a doctor about this.. i've never had the courage to do it as im real embarrased of having this thingy "KPRF" what should i ask the doctor? should i ask about paxil and about the IPL (PDL?) laser and if the insurance can cover it?

re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
once in a while u flush but nothing like before and it go's away instantly, no more heat, no more cold then warm room flushing. u dont have to get a script from a dermatologist for paxil 20 mg daily , u can get one from ur family doctor. u can start the paxil for a few weeks while u research for a good derm in ur area, u can search online for something like example; "top dermatoligists in Pittsburgh " or wherever your from. of couse ur embarrased I was too but paxil really helps with that too! u need to find a derm who deals with GENERAL DERMATOLOGY and DERMATOLOGIC COSMETIC SURGERY or LASER SURGERY, not all derms have IPL and PDL machines some might have one and not the other, most derms dont see KPRF since its not as common as say acne but they mis- diagnose u with rosacea but if ur young its probaly not rosacea as it hapeens in ur 30's and 40's, but then again I never seen u but if u seen pictures of KPRF and u think u have it look for a dermatologist that is experinced with PDL and IPL, as far as being covered by insurance its not because its considered cosmetic treatment and u will pay out of pocket, but if u have a good derm who has a good bedside manner he or she can wirte up ur diagnosis as a hemingioma which is a port wine stain, u know those big reddish purple stains some people have on their necks and face thats cover as a medically neccesitty under insurance, ur 17 so u can have ur mom or dad speak for u about the insurance issue being your covered under their insurance still. my derm happeden to know my aunt as a patient and did this for me with the insurance he just bills the insurance co., talk to ur parents show them the forum. also look for the initials after ur dermatologists name MD, DO, FACP. example John Doe, MD, FACP which means they belong to a society or organization of doctors. search online like u would look in the yellow pagers for a derm.

Are you going to take paxil all of your life? Is it bad to take it too long?

re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
no, when I feel like I dont need it anymore I will stop. its not some new untested maybe works drug.
read about side effects of other meds like accutane, proplanol, st johns' wort, etc.. most meds have possible side effects but they are at the highest full dose, thats why meds come in many different mg because most need alot less then the full dose. no its a safe medication, but if u have any problems like with any medication stop taking it. but u should be asking a doctor these questions personally. ''Your blushing will continue 3-7 days after you stop paxil, no matter how long you take it for. ''
I think you might never ''feel'' you don't need it |

I live in Norway, and I had my first appointment with a derm last week. I aske her about paxil, and she hadn't heard about it. She said it probably wasn't able to catch in Norway.

re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
Jason,
Rule #5 from the KP Forum Rules: Refrain from giving too much advice: This board is to share opinions, not to push them. It is a good idea to refrain from being too overzealous in your recommendations. This might come off as pushy and imposing. None of us (as far as I know) are actual dermatologists and we cannot diagnose nor offer treatments without all the facts. To do so would be to assume an enormous amount of responsibility. Keratosis Pilaris Community Forums - Announcements in Forum : General Discussion Please abide by this rule. I am posting this in reponse to your last post in large, bold letters and your repeated pushing of Paxil. There is an additional concern with Paxil, as the FDA is requiring a suicide warning with the packaging: May 12, 2006 -- The antidepressant Paxil and its controlled-release version, Paxil CR, are getting a new warning about suicide risk in young adults. Paxil - suicide risk in young adults - WebMD I would appreciate your cooperation. Thank you. kebod |

re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
OK, the big bold letters was intended for Tomfield as he is the cause of my infraction.
Im not pushing Paxil, I told her to google it online to read about it as she had asked her doctor about it before asking me a question. I know you dont approve of paxil, but this post is labeled flushing and blushing cure! Paxil-Prozac-Lexapro. Im just going to stay away from the forum for a little while. Good Luck. Tomfield, good luck with ur KPRF and whatever treatments u think work. ![]() |

re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
Jason,
I am completely aware that this thread is about paxil. I didn't ask you to stop posting about it. I asked you to not push it, citing rule #5 that a poster not be overzealous. Tomfield did not accept the idea of paxil, and you insulted him (which I edited out), and then you still had to post something more to him in large bold letters, the equivalent of yelling. Posters here need to be able to accept with grace that not everyone will agree with them, and they need to let it go and move on. On the internet, when we are not face to face with our listeners, it is easy to be inconsiderate and impatient. I wish that each of us could regard our fellow posters with kindness and respect. If you feel that someone has replied to you unfairly or in an insulting manner, please use the red and white triangle symbol in the upper right corner of the offending post, and the moderator or administrator will take care of it. kebod Last edited by kebod; 03-27-2008 at 11:52 PM.
