re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
hi jason, I have KPRF, the permanent redness dosen't realy bother me but my cheeks are burning constantly 24/24, I also flush in the evening, around 7-8h for no apparent reason, the body temp. is higher at that time of the day... it's some kind autonomic reaction I guess, Do you think the paxil could help these symptoms?

Autonomic reactions are very often related to anxiety so Paxil might relief these symptoms.

re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
Flushing and blushing comes from the same place in the body (central nervous system) and the face and ears are most noticale because the skin on the face is thinner than the rest of the body and the facial skin is highly vascularized (veins filled with blood) and YES I think Paxil would help stop flushing and blushing. If u flush and blush constantly even for no reason ( thats what I was like) there is some form of anxiety behind it even if u dont feel anxiety. I tried 10mg paxil no help, spoke with my doctor and went to 20mg with no problems (flushing blushing stopped!)

re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
I think this is just what I need, I'll talk about this to my doctor. I'm pretty sure It will work as I am someone who always felt self-conscious. This might be the cure to my problems, it might even help with the type of permanent redness I have because sometime (very rare) I am not red at all. One time in my life I was terribly sick and didn't give a damn about kprf anymore, my face was totaly clear and for the first time in my life I couldn't feel the pressure on my face. The only thing I am worried about is how much time I'd have to take it before serotonin level get's better? I'm pretty sure taking paxil for more than a couple of mounts can be dangerous...

re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
I'm kinda worried about the long term... I mean sure it will releive flushing/blushing when you take it, maybe a couple of mounts after you stop takin it, but what about 2 years after stopping, i'm pretty sure FF/FB will be back to where it was. Or do paxil permanantly regulates serotonin level? I'm just not so sure about that... I read several post on the internet, people mentionning anxiety symptoms comming back after they stop the pills... It might be a good short term relief... but takin it for the rest of you life

re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
Your blushing will continue 3-7 days after you stop paxil, no matter how long you take it for. But that will be the least of your worries, as most people (>92%) will suffer from extreme withdrawl symptoms. Anything from pain, to severe depression and even suicidal thoughts. GKS, the makers of this drug have been through serious legal battles to keep this drug on the market.

rcm, u cant just read about the negative not to mention most side effects are (RARE) and at high doses. 20 mg daily is what I take since late DEC and life is BETTER. there were a few days where I was off Paxil (3 days) because I was getinng prescription filled at pharmacy and I waited untill I had none left, and I felt fine. its not needed to take for life. I too noticed when Im sick with a bad cold or the flu that Id be very pale. now Im always very pale, also all those side effects u mentioned people who have KPRF already have them problems depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. 20mg is a low enough dose and makes all the difference, been around over 10 years. it closes the flood gates that make u flush and blush constantly. it is prescribed for socail anxiety disorder and flushing and blushing is a major symptom of that.
I dont see anyone on the forum talking negative about accutane except that it does not work. and when I tried accutane and read the POSSIBLE side effects like high cholesterol, nightt blindness, bruising, joint pain I read that with caution and did not experience any and they to were at high doses. and I was on 10mg for 3 months then 20 mg 3 months. |

I also took accutane when I was a teenager as I had terrible acne. It worked great, I took it for 6 mounts and now 7 years after I still no longer have acne, not a single pimple, I am now cured of acne ... but paxil ... it seems you have to stay on so it's very different, it dosen't cure anything if when you get off symptoms come back, it might become a crutch you will need for for the rest of your life. In this case I think ETS would be a better alternative but with all the bad side effects I can't recommend it either.

nobody claims u need paxil for life, not even MD's. once your serentonin levels are normalized you can come off. I was off for the most 3 days when refilling my prescription and I did not feel depressed, pain, etc.etc. now ETS once u have that nerve CUT during surgery there is no turning back ever, unless u get the nerve clamped its reversible, but the side effects are just more intense sweating and flushing than before ETS.
If everyone read the side effects on any medications and trully beleived they are going to get the side effects, then the world would be full of people dying of diabetes since they dont take insulin because of POSSIBLE side effects, or people would get even more sick, because they dont take antibiotics becasue of POSSIBLE side effects, or people with high blood pressure would die of strokes because they dont want to take blood pressure meds becuase they read POSSIBLE side effects. the only reason side effects are labled is for legal reasons, because at high doses anything can cause side effects even too much sugar, or too much Vitamin A or E. but most people dont take the higher dosage of any med that causes side effects, they are much lower or in the middle. so dont take paxil because u might get side effects, and just keep searching for a hard to find cure. I dont endorse Paxil, Im not a MD, but it worked for me, and 90% people on this forum have the same symptoms as me. ![]() |

I rather this thread be used for people who tried Paxil and feel better and stopped flushing and blushing. not to bash and defend Paxil. thats pointless typing.

Jason,
The purpose of this forum is to share experiences, opinions and information in a friendly way. Saying something negative about a product is OK if it helps someone make a decision as to whether to use it or not. We need to hear all sides of a product, including its side effects. kebod |

'' once your serentonin levels are normalized you can come off ''
'' Your blushing will continue 3-7 days after you stop paxil, no matter how long you take it for. '' ... seems the answer to my question is not unanimous |

re: Flushing and Blushing Cure! Paxil (paroxetine)
jason, just curious, did you notice your tendancy to blush slowly reduce from the first day of taking paxil, or was it only after 6 days?
Also, how are you PDL treatments going? |
