Wonderfully written. I wish it was truth. But unfortunately I disagree. There are some things that are impossible (I don't mean colonising Mars or other plantes in 10 years time or something like that, of course). I mean "more" possible things to happen but still impossible...

Anyway it isn't related to KP or KPRF in any way... So I shall stop grumbling here...

Re: Flushing and Blushing treated with Paxil (paroxetine)

well I wish that you didn't disagree with me.

I'm only 19 but I have seen some pretty amazing miracles in my life time. Things most people would believe is simply impossible proved wrong.

And really what I mean by anything is possible if you just believe... is that as long as you believe that everything will work out in the end... that means you'll never give up... which means (to me) that you will have a very very good chance of everything working out in the end.

Have faith. Thats what I'm saying. It's no use in just settling for less that you are capable and deserving of having.

GOD BLESS

Re: Flushing and Blushing treated with Paxil (paroxetine)

Believe, believe... Yeah, I think I should believe. I'm even younger than you. I'm 16. I don't say my life is bad or something. Despite my age I have already experienced great successes in some cases. And if I think of them I feel truly happy. But there is one thing that covers all the others and make them seem unimportant and just small.

Anyway, it seems like an off topic. Whatever, I don't care.

Re: Flushing and Blushing treated with Paxil (paroxetine)

Hey everyone... I finally got to the doctor this morning. :-) He prescribed me PAXIL at 10mg a day. He seems to think that this will really work well for my flushing/blushing problem. Plus he said I shouldn't experience any side effects with such a low dosage. He said that Paxil is actually a pretty safe medication. :-) Which put my mind at ease... since I've been a little afraid to take it.

So tonight after dinner... about 2 hours before I go to bed I will take my first pill.

I'm soooo excited and I can't wait for the flushing/blushing to go away. I hope it does... I feel pretty good about this. I'm just gonna keep praying and hoping. We'll see how everything goes. :-) (fingers crossed)

Re: Flushing and Blushing treated with Paxil (paroxetine)

thats great, Ive tried many times to tell all that Paxil is safe, I started with 10 mg for about 2 weeks, but it did not help at all. then I had it bumped to 20mg and 4 days later flushing/blushing stopped and has been that way since DEC 07! 10mg is very low so dont feel bad if it does not work for u, because u can always go to the next dose of 20mg. but hopefully 10mg will work for u!

Re: Flushing and Blushing treated with Paxil (paroxetine)

Hey Jason

Thanks :-) Last night I toke it for the first time. And I stayed awake for about 2 1/2 hours afterwards... I didn't feel any different.. maybe just a little more relaxed??? But thats it.

I just woke up and my stomach feels a little funny... but it's nothing too bad. It'll probably go away after a little while.

I only got flushed a little bit last night... very little. I woke up to use the bath room and felt a bit warm on my face... when I looked in the mirror it was just a little bit pink.

So far so good today... so we'll see how everything goes. I have work today... all day. :-( I hope it goes by quickly... and maybe I wont get flushed at all today. :-)

Wish me luck please. :-)

Re: Flushing and Blushing treated with Paxil (paroxetine)

Jason,

Since neither you or I are doctors, this forum would best serve its members by citing sources of statements, such as, "Paxil is safe"

Before anyone takes Paxil (or any other pharmaceutical), they should be informed and educated in order to make a responsible decision. By supporting an open discussin on the pros and cons of Paxil, we are helping the forum readers make that decision. We should do and say everything we can to support an open discussion, rather than making negative or discouraging remarks when a poster wants to discuss the side effects.

Paxil can increase suicide risk, increase aggression, cause sexual disfunction, increase risk of birth defects, and increase risk of babies being born with heart defects.
Dangers of Paxil - Online Lawyer Source
FDA Advising of Risk of Birth Defects with Paxil

If you believe these risks are rare and only occur at high doses, (and you may be correct) please cite (give the web link) the source of your information and also cite (web link) the dose amount between high and low. This request is not meant to disagree with your statements, but rather to ask for the medical research source to assure our members that they are reading research results, not personal opinion.

If someone wants to take paxil, we, as a responsible forum, need to see that they are aware of all pros and cons before they make their decision.

About low doses of paxil -- here is one web link about low doses of paxil and withdrawal symptoms:

The authors of the study conducted 2 week tapering off periods for 186 patients in 6 to 12 week doubled blinded comparative studies. Low dose and high dose groups were studied. Paxil's low dose group actually did worse than the high dose group, suffering 42% withdrawal rate, compared to 38% in the high dose group. And, both occurred even though the tapering off regime was initiated during dosage reduction.
Paxil withdrawal. Paxil withdrawal side effects, Paxil withdrawal warnings, Paxil withdrawal precautions, Paxil withdrawal adverse effects.

I am not picking on you or Paxil. I am only asking that since you are not a doctor, your medical statements show their source. Otherwise, this forum risks harming someone who makes a decision, not knowing the risks. I would make the same request for any drug with side effects.

You may very well be correct, and I hope you are, since Paxil has helped so many, but please, in the future, cite web sources and references when you make medical statements that can affect many.

Thank you,

kebod

My friend was on paroxetine and has had really bad withdrawal symptoms for a few weeks. I told him about this thread and he asked me to post following links as a warning and some kind of help for those who cope (or will cope) with paxil withdrawal symptoms

Did ur friend tell the the doctor who prescribed it to him he was coming off, was he weened off by his doctor, did he come off cold turkey with his doctor knowing, has he seen his doctor since coming off ?

maybe withdrawl sypmtoms are a sign that its to soon to come off! he should be consulting with his doctor about it, as Ive always mentioned, not look for answers on a chat forum, speak with a MD first! the longest I was off paxil was about 5-6 days, and I felt fine. kkk, if u feel lexapro or zoloft is more effective than paxil and has no side effects, as u mentioned in one of ur previous threads, then why didnt ur friend go with one of them instead of paxil.

another note, none of them links posted are backed by a legititmate site, u can easily find links online that praise paxil too, as well as down it.

If you seek success stories with paxil - you will find them.
If you seek nightmare stories with paxil - you'll find them as well.

Re: Flushing and Blushing treated with Paxil (paroxetine)

Jason,

What do you mean by "none of them links are backed by a legitimate site"? If we look at only the links provided by the makers of Paxil, they will be positive.

Yes, you are right -- we can easily find links for the pros and the cons. What is important is that we can discuss both -- the good and the bad side effects of a drug. Please accept that Paxil has had very negative side effects for some people and support a discussion about this, as well. I wish everyone could have your positive results using Paxil, but the research shows that isn't the case.

Type in google "paxil gone wrong" you will read many stories of people who can not get off of paxil. Even on a small dose of 20 mg daily. Many have said if they new it would have been this hard to get off, they would not have started in the first place.
