This is a quote from the link I cited:

In other words, intolerable side effects occurred 30% less. Perhaps this is why your doctor prescribed it instead of Paxil. Ash, why don't you call her and ask why and please share the answer with us.

Citalopram is an anti-depressant, working similarly as Paxil. Like Paxil, it also has side effects that you should be aware of:

The side effects listed in the above link are identical to the side effects listed for Paxil.

And like Paxil, when you stop taking it, it is advised to decrease the dosage gradually, instead of all at once.

Sexual disfunction can also occur with Citalopram (as well as Paxil). While rare, it takes up to 12 weeks for these side effects to disappear, and in some cases, the sexual disfunction never resolves (returns to normal).

I don't mean to scare anyone off of taking anti-depressants. Rather, I am a firm believer in being completely educated about the pros and cons of any pharmaceutical drug taken, because the side effects, when they occur, can be serious.

Ash, I hope your doctor talked to you about all of this -- the good and the bad of anti-depressants.

She said the Citalopram does the same as Paxil but it also does good things for Anxiety.

Thats why she gave me this one.

If it doenst work she says she will give me Paxil.

After two days i must say im pretty spaced out. Feel a little drunk. Havent thought about the flushing at all, which is good.

u know depression and anxiety alone can cause sexual disfunction. same as working out with weights alone can raise ur libido. not all side effects are mandatory and definate, they are possible and rare and in higher dosages compared to common dosages or if under 22 years old, but still not definate. and ur unfilled prescription of paxil which u must have got from an MD, if ur doctor believed u would get these sides I doubt he would have gave it to u.

ur obviously still looking for advice, so stay on the citalopram as ur doctor suggested, and see for urself if u get the results that u expect, if not she she will give u paxil, right ?

spaced out is normal for the first 2-3 days tops, then its gone the medicine is getting in ur system.

also Paxil is made for all types of anixety, it was the first of its kind, which u can read in Kebods link under Paroxetine. how many mg's u taking of citalopram ?

Hey Jason. Am doing good...really starting to feel the true effect of Paxil now. All thats left is PDL, but it feels good to have some control back...people need to understand that negative emotions can effect medical conditions, and make them very difficult to treat. i have a request. can you try to let me know what shade of red your skin was before PDL and Paxil and what shade it is now. much appreciated.

yeah red like an apple similar to the pic u have posted , and now whitish pink. but right now its a little more deeper pink becuase I just had another PDL done Apr 28th (last monday) 5th treatment, another PDL in May!

Well I gonna fill my prescription next week after my college finals so I don't get spaced out and forget all the ridiculous chem I've been crammin just to get a B in my dickhead prof.'s course but I think I gonna have to ask my doc a question about azole antifungal interactions. I read on that post some of those stronger drugs can increase the drug in your system and since I take a losange of clotramazole every day I might have stop. The corners of my mouth sometimes get red and irratated because of the yeast in my mouth. See my KP is only on my arms but I have SD on my face and prerosacea syptoms like flushing and visible capillaries on my face.
I just had a PDL done a month ago and man did I bruise! It was really bad but it went away after 2 weeks thankfully. I read that bruising is actually the most effective way but it is isn't very practical. Im gonna get it done again because I have really bad veins around my eyes.

Jason when you work out do you still flush? I set a record for benchpressing in my highschool days but I haven't lifted a weight in 4 years because I flush so damn bad. Its a shame because I loved to lift weights and I've lost so much overall energy from lack of excercise. If I could get back into lifting again without flushing it would be dream come true man.

Only if I overtrain on a workout day, but its not bad and its more or less just the feeling but no color involved. have u tried using a soap for oily skin to wash ur face ?

Oh thats good to hear man cuz I want so bad to get beefed up again. I haven't excerised literally in 4 years because of the blushing.
As for my SD, every soap or wash that is supposed to get rid off flakey skin like znp, sacrylic acid, sulphur soap actually make me more flakey and dry. I just use this plexion wash and it helps with the redness I usually get after washing my face.
How drowsy does paxil make you cuz I also take zyrtec for the mild allergies I have and I wonder if the 2 combined will put me down.

Also when you drink alcohol how do you normally react. This sounds stupid but about a year ago my friend gave me a paxil at a Bonethugs concert in D.C. and for some reason I took it with a whole lot of drinks and when we drove back to my place in B-more I was seeing doubles. I got lost on my own block and wandered into a random bar and lost my friend for like a hour. I felt like I was trippin and it was one of the weirdest experiences ever.

the drowsiness is for the first couple of days, while the medicine is getting in ur system,its not a side effect that will always be there. I take my paxil about 2 hours before bed, that should solve ur problem with drinking, if not then ask urself which is more inportant. I drank after taking paxil before, and realized u get drunk faster, its labeld on the med dont drink alcohol with this, u need to space out the time of taking paxil and drinking! allergies, for me were bloodshot eyes all the time, and believe it or not after starting paxil that went away also, I only use my Pataday drops once in a blue moon, u should be taking zrtec at the end of the day not in the morning! as for washing ur face and the SD I was talking about using a soap for oily skin like neutrogena or aveeno. because sebborheic dermatitis means oily skin rash, the oil in ur skin is more than it should be. all those other soaps will make ur more flaky because it dries up the oil but way to much, everone has a little oil to there skin or else we would all be flaking. personally I use Aveeno moisturizing bar, $2.99 lasts about 3 months, but u need something for oily skin, and theres a ton of brands for speciffaclly that. Im not a big drinker, not when I was younger and used to party all the time, Im 29. so u need to take ur paxil with time spaced in between drinking if u like to drink alot.

my doctor told me it can or will make u drowsy for the first few days, so take it at night, since u will be alredy going to sleep if feeling drowsy.
1. easier to remember to take before bed
2. didnt want to mess up what time I was taking it, since ur supposed to take it around the same time everyday.
3.the medicine will already be in ur system by the time u wake up, so 9am, I dont know when it will be fully absobed in ur system, but I take mine at night and know for sure that within 6-8 hrs sleep it is.

Im not going to tell u its wrong, but its what I do.

Anyway i think i have already noticed a different, not much flushing at all, just got my general redness from the kp. how long did it take to kick in your system to stop you flushing completely ? do you Ever flush now?

Oh man if it causes weird dreams than it doesn't matter for me. I haven't had a dreamless sleep in years. Ever since I quit smoking kronic I have vivid and surreal dreams. I think thats partly the reason why Im so tired in the morning. You know cause dreaming keeps your body active through the night and all

About KP though. My facial redness is caused by preasacea flushing and my SD but I have pretty bad KP on the backs on my arms and shoulders. When I get out of the shower it looks really really red. How do you guys treat it? I read that this chick on here somewhere used Sea Buckhorn soap and lotion and it cleared her pretty well. Im gonna try it but does PDL help at all cuz Im gettin my face done again on the 19th and the woman that does it is really cool and would do my arms too if I asked her.
