If you're young and like to party... here's some tips

I'm halfway through my highschool career now, and I've done my share of partying. If you're like me, you're red cheeks won't enjoy the partying as much as you do.

Here's some things I've found that will help you get through the night.

If you'r going to drink, drink beer or vodka, not whiskey or wine. For some reason, dark alcohol makes you flare up.

If you're going to smoke marijuana, you will probably turn a deep or bright red, so marijuana isn't the best party drug for us with KPRF.

You can use Valium or Kava to help quell the anxiety and embarassment that comes with flare ups. Also, drink lots of ICE COLD water throghout the night. Avoid dancing for too long, and go outside when you start to flare up.

Re: If you're young and like to party... here's some tips

This is really old but I was looking throught the forum and since I am in college I found this interesting ... haha.

My experience is that if I drink enough my face goes numb. And thats when I know its time to stop. At that point I can still walk fairly well, I wont throw up, and can still have some coherant thought. It is a very good feeling not to be able to feel the very common burning of my face. And obviously it along with the the large amount of alcohol (compared to people who dont drink to get drunk, obviously) gives me a lot of confidence ... at least for the night.

Thanks for your concern .

But ive been sober for 6 months if you discount 3 occasions so I hope I will never become an alcoholic. But I must admit drinking is fun ... Good day.

I find that happens to me a lot to, If i have a few drinks my face gets really hot, but if I get totally wasted my face isn't as red anymore. So I've come to a conclusion drink as much as you can and as fast as you can works for me lol....

all through college my face got red no matter what i drank. if it has alcohol in it, ones face will typically get more red. that is what alcohol does.

missliss,

I see now that my post was misleading.
Valium and alcohol is NEVER a good idea, but Valium or Xanax can get rid of marijuana paranoia.

Dirk, I think it has a lot to do with what you drink.

Whiskey will turn me bright red, but vodka and beer usually has a calming effect on the redness...

Re: If you're young and like to party... here's some tips

For myself, it has never mattered what it was that I was drinking. I've been drinking whiskey tonight, in fact and my face is calm. It would make things worse if I was laughing or getting into a drunk debate with others - an emotion triggering a blush and then it would take twice as long to go away since I was drinking.
As for marijuana, I smoked heavily while in high school and dont recall ever getting a triggered flush from it.

I've noticed a HUGE difference by adding ice to my drink. Before, I would only toss a few cubes in. Now, I fill the glass up about half way with ice and let the drink get as cold as possible before I drink it. It's worked well for me so far.

Also, I get as bombed as possible

there is really no way out of it. drinking leads to permanent redness eventually and even sometimes roscea in people like us!!!!!! if you flush after a drink its a sign the damage is already happening. I always get hot in the cheeks after drink. lots of makeup helps on anight out though. all drink is bad with our condition. Therefore lots of water while you are drinking is the best bet.

Re: If you're young and like to party... here's some tips

Water and ice help A LOT when drinking.

If you're at a party and get wasted enough to not care about the flushing AT ALL, it will typically go away.
When drinking lightly and socially, I've found it easier for a flush.

As for marijuana, it's a well known vaso-dilator. that's why it makes your eyes red and even people without KPRF will get very mild redness in their cheeks.
