Itchiness and burning on face
I went to the derm and he said that I have KPRF, as evidenced by the bumps on my arms and the redness in my cheeks. The weird thing is my arms are the only are where there are bumps, and its not hardly noticeable unless you are looking for them. My cheeks, however, are bright red and itch/burn constantly. It's terribly annoying to the point that I have trouble concentrating on important tasks. Some days its worse than others but generally my cheeks are very itchy and red. I put lotion on, Aveeno dry skin mos., but it seems to make the redness more pronounced (weird, I know). If I rub my face or touch it at all, it immediately gets redder and more of a heating/burning sensation.
Any advice to help this go away? Thanks |

Re: Itchiness and burning on face
Have you tried aloe? If you can get an aloe plant, the fresh sap from the leaf stalks is best. If you can't get a plant, aloe is available bottled at natural food stores, but the fresh aloe is more effective. Aloe is soothing and healing.

Re: Itchiness and burning on face
Have the exact same thing as you.
After going to numerous dermatologist's I found out it was eczema that was causing the burning. This is especially true if you have no bumps on your face like you said. Also, the fact that it itches gives it away I believe the burning is caused by very irritated skin that is severely lacking in moisture and cracked, which is a symptom of eczema (you can read about it on numerous websites if you'd like). Basically your immune system is overreacting to some irritant and causing your skin to break out in a rash. That said, you have to moisturize if you want it to get better. I had similar experiences to yours, in that when I first put on a moisturizer it made it even more red. This will usually happen and you probably have to deal with it no matter what. In my experience, after about 2 weeks of religious use of moisturizer my skin finally got to the point where it wasn't as sensitive. Then it won't bother you as much Of course it's probably best to try and treat it during a vacation to save the embarrassment As for what type of moisturizer I use - the best one I have tried is Cerave. It's not greasy at all and feels awesome. Definitely try it. Here's a link: Buy CeraVe Moisturizing Cream Online at drugstore.com You can probably also buy it in other stores. Use it for 3 weeks and see what happens. If it doesn't get any better than it's best that you just went to a dermatologist Hope that helped ![]() |
