Fraxel or PDL?
I'm getting a treatment in a bit under two weeks and I need to decide which one to get. PDL has way more downtime than Fraxel, but its results are proven. Fraxel apparently works way better, but it hasn't really been proven like PDL.
Ideas? |

I've been hearing a lot about V-Beam also, is it just a form of PDL?

Re: Fraxel or PDL?
V-Beam is a PDL laser made by Candela. This seems to be the most popular PDL laser and was the one I have had treatment with.
Dick had some treatment with the Fraxel laser. Details of this can be found on: http://www.keratosispilaris.org/kp-r...dd-advice.html Unfortunately he never posted back after the second treatment so it is hard to know it's effects on KPRF. It appears he did notice some minor improvement after one session. All I know is that PDL is the laser of choice for redness as it targets that colour. Fraxel appears to be used to target other skin conditions. Try googling both lasers and read up on them. Laser treatment can be expensive so you want to make sure you have got the right one. Also as KPRF is not that common derms can sometimes recommend something they think may help rather than researching if their is any prior proof it has helped someone with this condition. |

Re: Fraxel or PDL?
the derms are going to treat KPRF like rosacea, because they are treating redness which is caused by the blood vessels just like in rosacea although rosacea is a different form of redness both conditions are fed by blood vessels. blood vessels feed everything hair(face) skin, and skin cells. so erythema (redness) is caused by blood vessels and that is what is treated for KPRF and rosacea. KPRF affects the blood vessels, rosacea is caused by the bllod vessels. treatment is on the blood vessels.
PDL or Fraxel the only way to tell is to have one of each done atleast 5 weeks apart and then you can tell, but PDL is more common and used for this and other conditons. |

Re: Fraxel or PDL?
dont forget to get a prescription before your treatment for EMLA cream. its a topical cream that numbs your skin in the treated area. its lidocaine in cream form, apply 1 to 2 hours before treatment. so u have to get prescription before your appointment.
