Maybe this isn't what we think it is...

Does anyone else here have unusually sweaty palms?

I know that hyperhidrosis causes excessive sweating (usually on the palms) but it can cause facial flushing/blushing as well.

I have keratosis pilaris on my arms, and facial flushing/burning feeling. I am very prone to alcohol flushing, and the sex flush is AWFUL. To make matters worse, I am in highschool AND it's cold outside (cold is HELL when it comes to flushing).

But I'm not sure if this is all keratosis pilaris. Maybe it's hyperhidrosis....

Any thoughts?

(PS, I saw this on here a few months ago. Someone was talking about how sometimes they'd have an itchy sensation on their body and face. This happens to me as well, mostly when I sweat or wash with a strong soap in the shower. It almost feels like my skin is tightening and there are bugs crawling under it...)

Re: Maybe this isn't what we think it is...

i have sort of the same feelings sometimes man. I have the keratosis on my arms. I wouldnt say its severe and actually shaving my arms and exfoliated them makes it alot better. but yes i do get the occasional sweaty palms and i have permanent flushing of the face. It deff does get worse with alcohol and sex haha. I have looked into my situation being related to hyperhidrosis however the derm. i went to said he felt it was not worth the surgical procedurre and didnt feel that i actually had hyperhidrosis. i know beyond a reasonable doubt i dont have rosacea so im convinced its Rubra Faceii. What have you had luck with just out of curiosity???

Re: Maybe this isn't what we think it is...

just because they have a treatment for Hyperhidrosis, does not mean its cured, if you read up on the treatment its not always permanent results sometimes it come bakc worsemeaning whatever ur sypmtoms are now, and there are side effects because you are messing around with a nereve in ur body they cut it. or you can get the clamp atleast thats reversible they just unclamp it, if you have worse problems. but then again there are positive results too. but i bet if you ask a doctor about the ups and downs they will propablly tell you well nothing is guarenteed, and thats not what people want to hear. but you should make sure you know what u have, KPRF or Hyperhidrosis before a Hyperhidrosis treatment.

Yeah... well, all I know is that this red face deal sucks. It's awful. I hope someone develops an effective treatment

I havent had any lucky with creams and I haven't even talked to my doctor about Vbeam. I am going to try to get on betablockers to control the emotional flushing

10 mg of Paxil is very low dose - normal dose for depression and anxiety (flushing is related to anxiety) is 20 mg or even more

your supposed to start with a low dose for a week or two then if you feel u need to increase then take 20mg. they come in 20mg pills I take half 10mg a day at night before sleep. if you take too much of any type of these kind of meds you feel like a zombie!

Re: Maybe this isn't what we think it is...

then you should find a Dr. who can treat your nervous system I guess a neurologist, and a derm for the KPRF.

Hi People,

I do not hear much about the Demodex mites anymore . In the General discussion people are diagnosed with these mites. Also i think that is where the tinteling and the bumps came from. I have KPRF and UO and i will see a dermatologist for the mites, will keep you updated.

Keep faith

Re: Maybe this isn't what we think it is...

demodex mites , everone has them, with or without skin problems. they dont cause KPRF, the bumps are from a build up of to much keratin, which is the protein that makes up hair, skin, and nails. the redness is caused by vasodialation of the blood vessels becase KPRF affects the blood vessels. if u believe in demodex mites then use the soap called face doctor, made for demodex mites. i had a biopsy for KPRF and no mention of any kind of mites in pathology.

So treatment for an overactive nervous system and treatment for the KPRF should help... I'm also going to try tanning....

Re: Maybe this isn't what we think it is...

Im not a Dr. but if u have an overactive nervous system then I guess a neurologist can help because they are a Dr. of nerves, and like a dermatologist is for skin. treatmet for KPRF is something people on this forum are trying to figure out with different things, but PDL treatment (LASER TREATMENT) on your red cheeks is what most people are doing and dicussing. if u tan use sunblock 40 or more on ur cheeks so that it does not get any redder, the rest of ur face will be tan and blend with the redness.
