Anyone checked out Micro ETS?

Hi,
Has anyone here researched Micro ETS surgery done by Dr. David Nielson in Texas? My son has turned 18 and is planning on going down to have it done for his facial flushing (KPRF) and Raynauds. I am very concerned that this is a bad surgery and he will end up with other symptoms that are far worse (and please believe me I know how terrible KPRF affects everyone).

Thanks for any advice -- Blessings!

Re: Anyone checked out Micro ETS?

I agree - but how do I convince him of that? He is sure this is the "only" thing that will help him. He refuses to keep trying other options. We have been to 5 derms and tried all the lotions, pills etc.; have done lasers; have done gluten/dairy eliminations; have done acupuncture/acupressure/energy healing - you name it and he refuses to see that he needs to keep looking. I am terrified to be honest.

I never heard of raynauds before , but just looked it up and ETS is one of a few treatments.

Re: Anyone checked out Micro ETS?

Try to see psychiatrist! Raynauds and flushing are often related to anxiety and depression. I'm on Prozac and both problems went away (still have permanent redness caused by KPRF). Your son could try Lexapro which is known to be safe, effective with little or no side effects. You can always PM if you want.

regards

Re: Anyone checked out Micro ETS?

kk_k: he won't go - tried for years and now he's 18 and bigger than me - can't drag him there! I know how the KPRF has traumatized his life for a long time, affected school, friends, jobs, future plans, self-esteem.

Jason: I believe he had 8-10 treatments - would have to go back through records and check. 3 derms diagnosed him w/KPRF. We also went to a rheumatologist to check for lupus, scleroderma (?) and anything else possible. He had one derm that was wonderful and she pursued it quite well, but nothing helped and we got no where.

I need hard, fast evidence that he would be making a serious mistake doing ETS, that he will potentially be getting a whole new, more serious set of complications in doing it. I have tried to get him to read message boards where people who had the surgery have written in and told how horrible their new symptoms were but to no avail.

Thank you all for caring to respond - it helps the hurt a bit.

Re: Anyone checked out Micro ETS?

You can ask your GP to prescribe antidepressant for your son. It might really help.

best wishes
