cheeks that stay red

wow. i didnt think these two were linked up. ive got the spotties on my arms, thighs and but, and also blotched red skin around it.

but ive also always had really red cheeks, with pimple (but not really cos they dont go away) like things on the very edges of my cheeks.

when i get embarrased, anxious or stressed, it flares up, my face goes bright red and it stays like that for at least an hour. i try putting more makeup on to cover it...so noticeable that it doesnt work. then i try not to stress about it showing! which makes it stay longer.

sucks...it really does..

Hi Elise,
Yeah, it's no fun having KP, but I hope you can find some answers or remedies on our forum here. Feel free to join in on any of the ongoing discussions with comments or questions.

Hi Elsie - sounds like classic KPRF symptoms. Did you find the redness got worse in your teens?

Like Kebod says stay around the forum and ask questions and check what has helped others. Unfortunately with KPRF there doesn't seem to be one treatment that has consistently helped everyone.

Wishing you all the best
Anne

Re: cheeks that stay red

well technically i guess im still in my teens cos im 18.
but when i used to go to school and do sports, (even when it was winter) when i got hot, my cheeks would get this incrediable bright red and stay like that for at least an hour afterwards. and having people mention and ask are you ok?? makes it stay for even longer. since im out of school, i havent been getting it as much. just when something happens (i get embarrased or stressed), then it stays for ages.
i just wish it didnt stay for so so long

Re: cheeks that stay red

I had KPRF also at your age and had the same reaction. Because I live in a colder climate winter was the worse as going from the cold into a hot room used to set my skin off something terrible. It would then stay red for hours.

If it is an consolation my skin began to stabilise in my late 20's and at 46 I no longer have KPRF bumps on my face (interestingly though I still have a few bumps ont he very sides of my neck).

I have had 2 PDL treatments for Ulerythema Ophryogenes and atromphoderma vermiculata (another 2 types of KP variant). This has helped me a lot with the redness and probably also helped to stablise my skin further from flushing.

If you check the KPRF site you will find people with this talking about its effectiveness. As my KPRF had gone by the time of my first treatment (age 37) I cannot personally comment on how successful it is for KPRF.

The other thing I use is retin-a cream.
This is a type of acid and helps by slothing off the top layers of the skin - as a result however you have to be so careful how you use it. At first I used it only once a week on a night when I didn't have to go anywhere next day. I slowly increased it to every second night as my skin tolerated it. This has helped the overall texture of my skin a lot.

Hope this is of some help.

Re: cheeks that stay red

elise, i am 19 and have mildish KPRF and also a bit of KP on my arms and chest. I havn't been able to find anything that helped my KPRF but i have got my flushing and blushing under control using an audio-book made my a guy who almost killed himself because it got so bad...whenever he had conversations with people or saw people he liked or got embarrased or anything....i will private message you the web adress because we aren't allowed to post websites on here.

Trust me it does work....i am so grateful for it....

good luck

Re: cheeks that stay red

Interesting, but this guy doesn't seem to suffer from flushing. I can also blush excessively and recognize the feelings he describes when it occurs, but it would be much easier to accept if the redness wouldn't persist for hours after a blush. For me, the problem of flushing and staying red is the biggest problem. Not only because it doesn't look good, but also because of the intense burning feeling. I will have a VBeam treatment for the permanent redness next month... hope it helps.
