Yep - I had bad KPRF from age 14 until late 20's early 30's. My skin in that area is still a bit red I guess but the whole red bump thing has gone. Same with KP on arms.

My family has a naturally high colour skin so am not sure if the redness left in the area where KP used to be is just that or redness caused by KP.

Yes - but in a way my cheeks were even more red as:
my family has a naturall tendancy to high colouring
I had atrophoderma vermiculata going on also

The KPAF, AV and natural high colouring weren't a good combination. As far as I can see you just have KPRF - your unaffected skin looks good.

What are you trying by way of treatments at the moment?

cheers
Anne

Thank you Anne!
It's the last time I ask you that question - I promise...
are you totally sure I've got KPRF ??

Treatments I try:
- urea and AHA lotion
- Koru KP oleum
- anti-depressive drug (it reduced flushing)

I hate my OCD I really hate it...

Well the urea lotion seems to make the skin less prone to flushing and reduces the bumps a little. The SSRI really helps emotional flushing and anxiety so cheeks are not so red. I'm very sorry for my questions but as you know it's not easy to cope with OCD.

Best wishes
k

Hey Anne, I'm reposting that dermis.net link in General discussion. Maybe it's a repeat but it seems like we newer member come in wondering what variants we might have and if our skin condition is like others' here. It's great, Thanks! you are a great contributor, imho.
btw - don't know if you saw this but I have an old friend who is using the azelaic acid on RF. she has noticed quick improvement. I've sent questions to her and hope we'll hear more from her. - bd

thanks bunnyday! - the azaelic acid sounds promising in that it doesn't seem to irritate the sensitive facial skin like retin-a and AHA's can.

I have never tried azaelic acid myself - hopefully your friend continues to have good success with it and you can post the details here. I appreciate your contributions too!

Yes KP and its variants can be quite confusing so it is good to refer back to the medical articles.

Good to hear you are making some headway with the flushing and redness

Have you every tried the azaelic acid? - I know Derfel and Dick were trying it but I haven't hear from then for a while.

I wish I could make things better for you or give you some great guaranteed treatment recommendation but at the moment it is just a matter of consistently trying some of the things that have worked for others, and like you are doing, taking a note of those things that help.

Your skin may never be as 'perfect' as you would like it - I know that mine will never be. I like the saying that says 'change the things that can be changed, accept the things that can't be changed and pray for wisdom to know the difference'

thats the hard part isn't it - accepting things as they are .......hopefully we will come across treatments that change the redness completely but in the meantime it is a matter of living with the 'skin' you have and trying out treatments as they come to light and remembering that kk-K is so much more than just his skin.

wishing you all the best
Anne
