KPRF or Rosacea?
I've been positive what i've got is KPRF for over a year now but i just looked at the rosacea forum and this guy's pics look like my condition. Just they get worse when i get that tingling flush. http://forum.rosaceagroup.org/viewtopic.php?t=5288

I have a very little KP on my arms. It doesn't bother me much.

That pic looks exactly like kprf. From all the pics i've seen the redness is always in that area and that defined.. It looks worse than rosacea imo as it doesn't blend in with the pale skin i.e kprf is usually associated with a clear demarcation of redness. Plus he mentions that it began at the start of puberty which is also another clear indication of kprf.

Yes, that pic is KPRF, not rosacea. That guy should be at this forum, not over there.

Is this the side of your face, and that is your ear on the right? It looks like classic KPRF to me. There is so much follicle involvement. Those tiny, densely packed red bumps are all KP, especially how it is worse on this particular area and then actually *improves* as you go out toward the center of your face. The shaving compromises the follicles even more (the razor burn makes it worse) and there are a lot that are totally ingrown under bumps. And there are the red dots, too, where a hair is WAY down in the follicle, which you don't get with rosacea. Most of all, rosacea is not really a hair follicle disease - It forms papules, but they are not tiny and specific to the follicle like that a million times over.
What have you tried in treating it? It looks like you have enough keratin there built up that you would have to use a physical exfoliator to remove it before you could even get to the follicles and clean them out. Your RF is more like regular, body KP in that way; I would think you could treat it more easily. You don't have the relatively smooth cheek patches. It's also possible to have both KPRF and rosacea, as separate diseases on the same face. If you have the little follicle bumps and cheek redness, and a red nose, you could have both. |

Yes it's a side of my face and my ear on right. I've got KP on my arms too
http://img142.imageshack.us/my.php?image=kparmai0.jpg I use urea/lactic acid cream with some improvement (but nothing special). Fortunatly my nose seems to be ok In addition to this I've got some symptoms of atopic dermatitis and allergic rhinitis.Regards and thanks for your reply |

The case on your arms is not too bad, but bad enough to need a stronger topical. I think you could clear it up with Glycolic - worth a try, if you haven't yet. Even 15% used once a day might be enough. Lactic and Urea are considerably weaker AHAs and, wow, they must be very weak indeed if they can't help your case much.
