Blood Circulation
I've got KPRF and for those complaining about KP-It's nothing because at least you can cover it up with clothing but we can't do that with KPRF.
I've got poor blood circulation so that i turn off heaters because my face feels hot but my hands and feet are freezing. Do any of you have the same problem? It seems that all my blood is in my cheeks and nowhere else! |

my hands and feet are always red and cold , but according to my doctor it's because of a genetical problem in my kidneys. I dont think it's related to my red cheeks ...

I have the same thing, although my hands are usually not exactly red when they're cold, more like a purple colour sometimes. when I'm excercising, they turn fiery red like my face.

I have pulmonary atresia with vsd (ventricular septum defect).
You can read about it here: http://www.rch.org.au/cardiology/def...fm?doc_id=5084 I have had two operations (just when I was born and one time when I was around 1 year old). Now I have some defects on my pulmonary valve (2/3 of the valve is gone) and a "smaller/tighter" opening to the pulmonary artery. |

Yes, this all sounds very familiar. I have rosacea, but the temperature problems are very similar. My hands have always had very bad circulation and tend to be cold, but I overheat internally very easily and end up with my face very red.
Anytime my face is exposed to warm, indoor air, the skin automatically turns red and hot (it takes maybe 5-10 minutes, and it will be all red) and I start sweating like crazy and getting very thirsty. It isn't as bad on a warm day outside - more like when there is no ventilation or fresh air, like in a stuffy room. I think I have bad circulation generally, though I have never really had it investigated. I didn't know it was related to specific organ problems, as you guys mention..? I never turn on the heat in my house- not even in the winter. At my work, the thermostat is broken and the place gets very hot. Even the normal people with healthy skin find it intolerable, so it is torture for me. I have devised a weird/drastic solution - I wear a wet shirt. I have to wear dark colors so it doesn't show, but I go to the restroom and soak my shirt in the sink, wring it out a little, and put it back on. It keeps my temp down and it is the only way I've been able to keep my job there. It is ridiculous that I have to do this, but it is the only way to prevent the facial redness and the overheating problems. In about 1 1/2 hours, it is dry again (that's how damned hot it is in there!) and I have to re-soak it. I also do this whenever I go out to exercise, just soak down the shirt before I leave the house. It is a real problem though, because it interferes with socializing. Like, I really can't go to someone else's house and hang out unless the heat is off and their door/windows are open. Anything over 70 degrees F or so is enough to make me overheat. (Sorry, I don't know what that is in degrees C.) My understanding is that it *feels* like your face is the only thing that is affected, but it is actually an overreaction/response to increase in core temperature, so it can be stopped if you keep your internal temp down, even if that means your hands (and other areas) may feel too cold. Obviously rosacea and RF are different, but there seems to be symptom overlap here, so maybe it is the same for both? Last edited by Turquoise; 05-07-2007 at 08:41 AM. |
