after IPL it does

it's in your genes so you can't get rid of it - you can only reduce it (at least temporary)

I've had 2 IPL treatments with a little improvement - the redness returned after about 2 months. I think it's waste of money

IPL and PDL are quite different lasers. PDL is the laser of choice for redness ie. broken blood vessels, port wine stains etc.

I have had PDL treatment for redness caused by atrophoderma vermiculata and Ulerythema oprhryogenes (these KP conditions damage the blood vessels) and it has helped me.

The million dollar question with KPRF is 'how much does it damage the blood vessels and how much is the redness just due to inflamed hair follicules???'

Dick has recently explored this laser option for KPRF - refer thread titled 'odd advice'. The clinic recommended the fraxel laser for him over the PDL. The PDL has a lot of down time due to bruising whereas the fraxel doesn't produce a lot of bruising.

Dick had the fraxel laser treatment done about a week ago and has been posting results so I suggest you keep an eye on what happens with him.

Derfel also went to see a derm (under same thread) for laser treatment but was suggested to try a topical cream first (refer thread for name).

As far as I know no-one on this forum has had PDL specifically for KPRF. Maybe the combination of laser and topical cream may be a winner. As so little is published about successful treatments for this condition it is still very much trying ideas suggested by professionals and reporting back on results.

As I wrote IPL is a waste of money - I've had two treatments and I'm not going to have it any more. Effects/price ratio is really poor for IPL

Please yourself but if you read posts on this site from people having had IPL there is not a lot of improvement. I know PDL has worked for my condition.

Unfortunately I have never read or heard of anyone promoting either particularly for KPRF.

Good Luck

Hi

I had treatment for KPAF (ulerythema ophryogenes and atrophoderma vermiuclata) which is a lot different to KPRF. My redness has not come back but as my condition was different I really don't think you can say KPRF will respond the same way.

I suggest you 'talk' to derfel and dick and find out how the cream they are using is working (they may not have had a chance to see any results as yet though) and also wait for Dick to post an update on how his fraxel laser treatment helped.
