IPL or DYE LASER? Advice please
Hey guys, i am new to this KP board and would like to start out saying i have been searching to find out what my condition was. I went to a derm awhile back when i was 16 and he said it was normal and would go away and recommended some creams *which i never tried*..then i went to another doctor who specialized in hyperhidrosis and i had an IPL treatment done. Didnt really see much improvement with that and it was a bit painful. My symptoms are pretty common to everyone elses..i have the usual rosy cheeks at all times..sometimes worse than other times..i have slight kp on my upper arms too. Not bad though..my father has this too which makes sense why i have it. My question is....would more IPL treatments suffice if my rosy cheeks arent that intense or would doing the dye laser be better? BTW i do take some supplements for my skin condition such as evening primrose oil, 10,000IU of VIT A, and COQ10 w/ pycnogenol. These supps help with blood vessel tone and seem like they have helped slightly in the short amount of time i've been using them. ANY COMMENTS ON WHICH OPTIONS WOULD BE BEST ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED. IM MALE, 19yrs old BTW.

Hi
Pulse dye laser is usually the laser of choice for vascular redness. I have had two Candela Vbeam pulse dye laser treatments done for redness caused by Ulerythema Ophryogenes and Atrophoderma Vermiculata. This has worked well in reducing redness on my face caused by these conditions Dick has just had treatment using another type of laser called a 'Fraxel Laser'. As Dick had treatment for his KPRF it may pay to follow this thread for a bit and see what his results are. With the PDL there is some downtime while your skin heals from brusing which can be a problem. The Fraxel laser doesn't cause the same bruising but as Dick is the only one I know who has had it for KPRF it will be interesting to see what results he reports. With regards to IPL I have never read of it being recommended so much for redness. I had two separate derms do each of my treatments and both recommended PDL as being the best laser to use for my facial redness. IPL was never mentioned as an option. Thread to follow is: Odd Advice |
