Re: Just Make The Redness Go Away
It was all probably a misunderstanding because of the fact that it is hard to convey tone through text, so lets get back on topic. I do plan on seeing a dermatologist to ask whether continueing to use the cream will effect my skin. I would like to know your opinions on diet effect overall redness/blushing + flushing. Personally i found that i flush if i eat any sugar in the morning about 3-4 hours later, have you guys/gals had any personal success with anything diet related?

Re: Just Make The Redness Go Away
justakid, I think u really should see ur dermatologist about ur cream as its not just AHA's it has a steroid in it, and any kind of steroids should only be used 2-4 weeks at the most. you know steroids on the face long term can cause steroid rosacea which is resistant since it was induced by a steroid. 2 years is a long time to have been using a steroid cream on the face, not to mention steroids clear up just about any condtion quick and fast thats what they do, but ur supposed to come off and on in cycles if it comes back not continuously use it. because ur skin can become dependant on it and when u come off ur conditon can come back with a vengenace.
my 2 cents. also I offered my opinion about PDL and IPL and I think they are better then AHA's thats my opinion Im aloud to state my opinion thats what this forum is all about , and I have used AHA's and PDL, IPL so if you have not how can u put the other down. all I said from the begining was "AHA's can cause major irritation to facial skin, CAN! and I have offered on the forum how to get ur insurance to pay for them if thinking of getting it done. and I mentioned in other threads about possible bruising from PDL everyone knows about that, but Im not going to mention it in every thread. and I always ended my post with "whatever works is best, so whats the problem.
. |

Re: Just Make The Redness Go Away
Hi everyone.
Just stumbled across this forum and it is fascinating. I had no idea a lot of other guys experienced the exact same thing as me with the issue of blushing and redness. It is nice to know. I'm not sure if I have Rosacea, but I do have some redness in my face that I'm looking to eliminate. I used to blush really bad (starting at about 14), but that has gotten better over time. No bumps or thickening or anything though. As I was researching the redness issue, I came across a really well-written and researched article about a guy who tries different solutions for the mild rosacea and redness on his face. He documents his experiences succinctly, and even includes pictures. A quick excerpt: This page is a record of various experimental treatments. Naturally, I give more space to the successes than failures even though my 'failures' might be successful for other people. Here is the site: http://www.neopax.com/Artemis/rosacea/index.html I think I'm going to try the green tea and aspirin, sounds the easiest and pretty effective. Good luck everyone with everything. |

Re: Just Make The Redness Go Away
do you think the redness will help KPRF. Or just Rosacea?

Re: Just Make The Redness Go Away

Hi, my name is Adam. I've had KPRF along with thinning eyebrows and KP on my body since i was around 9 or 10 years old, Am 21 now. I have severe facial redness and blushing which is usually burning F**K'N hot!! . It has caused me to try and avoid any type of social situations, and is quite depressing at times because I know i would be a totally different person without this. I've had only a handful of friends in my life and never a girlfriend, it holds me back from living life. I think I've also developed social anxiety, I become very uncomfortable, tense, nervous and can sometimes feel my heart racing in some social situations. It's held me back from doing well through school and now I've just turned down some really good career opportunities. Just thinking of a situation coming up where I know I'll have to be around and talking to people causes me anxiety and flushing. Some other things that cause it are being in a warm room, alcohol, a hot shower, sun, cold , wind, spicy food and probally some others I can't think of right now.
I've been to doctors, a lot of dermatologists and tried dozens of creams, lotions and shampoos such as cetaphil, lac-hydrin, eucerin, nizoral, hydrocortizone, head and shoulders, urea, coal tar shampoo with very little success. Also I've had 3 or 4 laser treatments done about 2 years ago with the last dermatologist I went to see as a part of a test study she was doing, haven't had results with that either. Over the last few years I've spent alot of time researching and looking for a possible cure or anything to improve this with not much luck. I found this site about a year ago and was surprised to have actually found other people with the same problems as me. I've never discussed this with anyone so i decided to make a post since I've been feeling shi**y lately. I've been trying to make some connections between this F**KED UP this skin problem and what might be causing it. I know anxiety is one of the major triggers for the blushing. I've always had people commenting on how red my face is, makes me turn 10 shades redder and a whole lot more anxious and uncomfortable. On this site I've found alot of information. It seems it occours mostly in people of Celtic backgrounds, I come from a Scottish/Irish ancestors. I read that paxil helps with the blushing , I'm thinking of trying this since it is prescribed for social anxiety, which I have anyway. Also I seen some people have had results with cutting out wheat and milk from their diet, I found this interesting because my mother and sister have an allergy to dairy, also there is asthma on my mother's side of the family. I've been trying nizoral shampoo on my eyebrows but haven't seen any regrowth yet, but I've read it is supposedly as effective as rogaine for hair regrowth and slows down the build up of yeast on the skin. One doctor told me it's like a yeast infection(my eyebrow loss from the inflammation, with red, flakey, bumpy skin underneath). I'm also going to try sea buckthorn for the demodex mite which seems to have some kind of connection with this. Also I'm going to try tanning which is supposed to kill this bacteria and maybe darken up my skin a little so the redness is not as noticeable. So, anyways that bout' all i have to say for now , if anyone wants to talk my email is *******. I can post some pics if anyone wants...Later ![]() Last edited by kebod; 06-02-2008 at 08:46 AM. Hi Adam,
I hope you don't mind my removing your email address. For security, we don't post them. However, if someone wants to contact you, all they have to do is click your name and send a private email (pm). It sounds like you have done your research. Please post again and let us know if you find help with any of the remedies you mentioned. Also, photos are a great idea. Welcome to the KP Forum! kebod |

Re: Just Make The Redness Go Away
I've been in treatment for KP for about 15 or so years. I've been working with the same dermatologist and tried many different things. Right now I'm using tazorac cream for the bumps and finacia gel for the redness. I did use elidel but it did not work for me. (sorry the spelling might not be correct). Although it has gotten slightly better it is by no means any where near close to the point where I could go out without makeup. I am so extremely self conscious it consumes ever moment of my day thinking about if people can see how red my face is. I am getting married in a year and it would be my biggest wish that this would just go away. I can't imagine standing in front of 150-200 people with my face beet red. I've never even gotten my makeup done as I never want anyone else to see me without makeup. I plan on getting it done for my wedding and this really makes me nervous. Any help anyone can give me would be a huge help.

Re: Just Make The Redness Go Away
I know exactly how you feel. I got married at 24 and had worn makeup every day of my life since around 14. I certainly didn't want anyone to see me without makeup so did it myself.
I would put forward two suggestions: The more drastic one is have you considered pulse dye laser treatment to deal with the underlying redness in your skin - if your skin is red even when no flushing you may benefit from this. Talk to your derm about it and refer the post on this forum about PDL treatment The second more simpler one is - after 30 plus years of wearing makeup I have found a makeup that covers redness easily and looks very natural. I live in NZ and here we can only buy it via mail order. It is 'Sheer cover' mineral makeup and comes with a concealer cream which you apply first to cover the redness. You then dust over the powder. I would recommend this makeup to anyway who wanted excellent coverage but a natural look (apparently it was developed to cover conditions like roscecea etc). In NZ it is marketed through a company called Guthey Renker (sp?) Another thing to try is the evening primrose oil - I have been taking fish oil tablets and they have helped my skin. Next time I am at the supermarket I might try the evening primrose ones instead. This whole topic of essential fatty acids has come up often on the KP forums so I beleive there is definately something in it. |

Re: Just Make The Redness Go Away
it's nice to see there's so many people out there who share the same problem. I'm a girl of 16 and I've had so many comments about my red cheeks it's insane. I then turned to makeup, which helps a lot but it's still not 'normal' and I get comments about how much makeup i wear. It's a no win situation really. I've tried so many treatments already and I'm still trying as none seem to have worked yet. It really makes me anxious in social situations and I just want it cured so I can be a normal teenager like everyone else of my age!

Re: Just Make The Redness Go Away
Wahoo i'm not alone. Well my redness and lovely red lil bumps i've noticed for years but never did anything about it. I've just gone to the doctor to start trying some creams and what not. My derm told me you can't cure KP only try to control it. That 100% true? The flushing that comes along with it i think is the most annoying part. As sometimes i feel like i have a fever, check my temp like a thousand times, just to come up relatively normal. This along with a Post traumatic event has left with me some good anxiety. Life sure does get fun as you get older
.Well anyway it is always nice to know there are other people out there dealing with what im dealing with. Though that sucks that everyone has it, just nice to not feel so alone. |

Re: Just Make The Redness Go Away
okay I've struggled with this for ages and I find that my moisturiser, prescribed by my dermatologist is very good. It's called dermol 500.
Another thing that seems to work, is a steroid cream prescribed my dermatologist called dermovate. The only problem is that it is very strong and can't be used for more than 2 weeks but I put it on last night and I woke up with my skin to a level that I would go out without makeup. I actually was able to see my freckles that are normally hidden by my redness. I washed my face today and put on my moisturiser as normal and the effects have lasted and even lasted through exercise, where I would normally flush. I'm going to see if I don't put it on again, how long the effects will last and post them up here to know if this really is effective. I also have some pictures but they're fairly embarrassing and I don't know how to upload them so tell me if you would like to see them and I'll sort it out ![]() |
